  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

Rivian announced their intent to launch R2 in 2022 (in conjunction with their LAUNCH of R1)... This was not a scheme concocted in 2024, it was an intentional and strategic plan to bring a more attractive and appealing "mass market EV" to a broader base of buyers. The intention being to increase...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

Agreed on all of this, and in terms of the above, the DTC model sets a price that we (the collective buyers) are willing to pay. That pricing may be adjusted over time. Think of it as group pricing, with no need for any individual "market adjustments". The company realizes a significant benefit...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

Tesla does not want to show how few Cybertrucks were actually sold after gloating about their bloated reservation numbers. So they just don't break it out by model.

    Apreesh for the destination charger

Not just federal - Federal and State in this case. I was simply explaining that the monies from these grants came from both a public utility and from the state - not just straight tax revenue with no other incentives. Incentives are there for a reason, and if you have the choice to utilize the...

    Apreesh for the destination charger

My town received a grant of $130K from a major utility supplier under a program called "Make Ready EV" and recieved a $51K grant from the state as part of its E/V incentive program, so it isn't always taxes. They also just installed 2 DCFC's at the town hall from FLO. They charge full freight...

    Apreesh for the destination charger

So, one thing that is a little under-rated for EV owners is the "destination charger." These are not DCFC's, and as the name suggests, you travel somewhere, and you get to SLOW charge for short $$$ (or sometimes no money) while you are away from your truck doing something, or while sleeping...

    Off-topic stuff…

One of the hidden gems inside Grand Central was the Campbell Apartment - a refuge amongst the chaos, and one of the coolest places I have been for a cocktail. It was once an office, a studio and even a jail before becoming one of the coolest bar spaces in NYC. Billions of people have walked...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

Your engine appears stuck in first gear - a very common problem when using AI. As you continue with your argument your engine may hallucinate causing issues with complexity and past relevant posts in a thread like this. While I applaud your attempt at utulizing AI for your efforts here, your...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

What a strange interpretation! A US OEM that is looking to improve viability, profitability & gain more market share by launching an entirely new product is defined as "desperate" by your AI argument engine? I would try to inject your bot with a dose of capitalism and alter its core algorithm...

    Traveler Spare Tire

Loading MTB's on the roof can be less than desirable b/c: 1. If the roof is pano / glass, it could crack or break the roof if not loaded properly, or if they fall onto the glass roof 2. MTB's are also much heavier than road bikes - very awkward to load overhead 3. MTB's are add a huge amount of...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

If Rivian launches R2 successfully this year with solid conversion numbers (as Phase II of their GTM efforts), we can make this entire ludicrous thread go away. We will see a highly capable, value-oriented, American-made EV that could be a major catalyst in the electrification movement in the US...

Factory Pick Up - Cost and what does it include?

Correct. The destination charge for my R1T (for reference) for home delivery was a non-negotiable $1,075.00. Has nothing to do with dealerships, but rather getting the truck from the factory to where it is being purchased, since a real cost is incurred for transport.

Factory Pick Up - Cost and what does it include?

No way... Flying under the radar - complete covert operation. The plan I have hatched is just to swap my launch green R1T with a silo green Terra and hope my wife doen't even notice. Chances are good based upon Rivian JV and Zonal Architecure as long as it fits nicely in the garage, but I will...

I think option 1 includes an orientation / drive on the course too... Maybe fewer laps! LOL

Factory Pick Up - Cost and what does it include?

Gonna be honest here (based on taking delivery of my R1T). I had already researched everything and watched too many videos when I took delivery. I think I knew more about my new truck than the new Rivian employees did at the time. After I signed papers and they connected my phone to the vehicle...
