  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

    Spare tire discussion

Not cool or practical. Spares on the A$$-end of a pick-up truck are like feathers on a frog... But just my 02 cents. 🚬

    Key Fob question

I keep one of my key cards in the wallet. Hopefully it will not be a binary choice with Scout, I doubt it will be. It's pretty easy to hand a key card over to someone, though, so there is definitely good utility for some sort of proximity-based card or method of giving a handshake to the truck...

And the Pure BEV Terra is back up .1 to 8.7% 💹 coming down the straightaway. 🏁

    Key Fob question

By way of comparison, my 2022 Launch Edition R1T came with: 1. Caribiner Key Fob 2. Phone as a Key (mobile) 3. Wrist Band 4. 2 Key Cards I have used the Fob about 20 times in 55K miles, but do throw it a bag as a backup if I am going off-grid or will be without access to power I use my phone...

    Custom External Sounds

If Scout offers a fart sound, I know one thing is for sure... I'm 100% OUT. (not that I believe they would ever offer one). It just ain't part of the no-nonsense, more understated, and much more BADA$$ Scout fabric & ethos. Way off-brand, actually. Stay classy Scout Motors!!! (y)

    Scout Loyalty

What Scout Motors needs more than anything, is new reservations. They could incentivize owners to make referrals, and if you get a friend to buy a new Scout, you get points that could then be redeemable in the Scout Store for merch & Scout accessories (or something like that).

    Self-Healing Systems

Sounds like applied collective Machine Learning across the fleet of deployed vehicles, that could then perform their own independent "OTA's" based on acquired learnings. I'm guessing that (at this stage) you would want to send those learning back to the mothership, before being deployed via...

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

Agreed. I often wonder if there would have been more EV adoption without a "mandate" (even though there was no mandate). Sometimes even just talking about something that hypothetically could have happened 10 years from now appears to really "turn-off" a lot of Americans.

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

Not in my neighborhood! (y) We even pass down all the kids clothing, sweats, sports gear and do a red-neck ski swap!

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

This is an interesting thread. For the record, I am all for people buying whatever the hell they want in the spirit of seeing Scout succeed, and in the spirit of helping to bridge the gap for a more traditionally "ICE-oriented" truck & SUV ownership base to consider an EV. I have no agenda to...

    Hey Lady Scouts!!

This is not really an EV thing, more of a modern, SW-defined vehicle thing. It depends on SW development and the settings that are available in the UX, as well as the type of key being used. With a key card or wrist band (for example), it's specifically and intentionally proximity-based in...

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

Even with only 200 miles of range, I'm not sure I understand the concern. You could literally drive from Greenfield to Charlton and back again with that range, and there would be no need for a single charge (assuming you left with 200 Miles of range!). But, with a Scout, we are talking about...

    All terrain tires

I'll run whatver the stock A/Ts on the Scout for 6 months. Then Swap to these for the other 6 months (Hakka LT3) Nokian Hakka is 100% the best severe service winter truck tire there is, and the LT3 should be just about perfect on a Scout.

Awesome for groceries, beers and pizzas. R1T holds 12 XL pies for reference.

    Harvester

I would also doubt that Scout or any OEM would want to play that game ever. Adding a battery pack that is ~700lbs would be a lawsuit waiting to happen. "Honey, just going outside to take the portable battery pack out of the truck... Call an ambulance if you hear loud screams coming from the...

    Harvester

Not that I would ever need or want to do this while driving a Pure BEV truck, but I would much rather have a power storage solution like an EcoFlow or something similar send power to the battery (VS. a gas or diesel generator). I would imagine that the driving experience with a portable...

I should have been more specific and stated, "while parked".

    Harvester

Yes, you will be able to do this, based on similar vehicles, using the EVSE that is provided with the truck. You may or may not need an adapter to connect the EVSE to the generator, and you will need to turn the generator's 240V inverter "on". Using something portable like an Eco-Flow, you could...
