  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Battery only or harvester.. starting to rethink it.

I'm not sure this is such an outlier. Its SCIENCE. I was once forced to drive at very low speed for a hundred miles on backroads during the last solar eclipse in my R1T... Felt like I could have driven for days without a charge in northern New England. Lost like 20% SOC over a hundred miles or...

Actual delay official and order of deliveries confirmed?

Welcome to the Scout Alarm & Panic button Configurator! Would love to scare the absolute $hite out of a few choice people by smashing on the horn and blaring this:

    Re-think Headlight Design

Not only a poor choice for the branding reason discussed, but also a massive cost for a brand that is re-establishing itself in a tough market. And the last thing I would want is for my Terra to look like a Terra Bronco, but just my 02 cents.

    R2 Launch Watch

Hopefully they keep it really simple. Complexity just adds time and cost, and this is not meant to be a "premium" model, so they are probably best served with fewer trims and more accessories and add ons that can be a la carte.

    R2 Launch Watch

I'm sure others are keenly attentive to whats happening in the world from a global macroeconomic and humanitarian perspective. Coincidentally, we are also 3 days away from the Rivian R2 Launch (https://rivian.com/r2) with PRODUCTION pricing. I was thinking about the reservation conversion %...

    Re-think Headlight Design

Toyota is not a great example (and wallowing pathetically in years of EV denial for their trucks) but that is another story. I see noe reason why Scout should offer two front ends - that would be a marketing 101 blunder, particularly as they look to rebuild consistency with brand awareness and...

Is the EREV going to be a flop?

That looks like EREV country for sure.

Is the EREV going to be a flop?

Until we have all the specs for production, I hesitate to make any guesses on efficiency/consumption/ real-world driving (since its all hypothetical at this stage), BUT I'm also guessing that EREV owners who want to run 100% gasoline on a road trip (as in the above chart) might be in for another...

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

Context is important. I think it's more like the context may be off here (since we're on a Scout forum). I don't see it as "tearing down" - more like apples and oranges. If this was a Canoo or Alphamotors forum, i bet the responses to the Slate might be different - those are small, inexpensive...

Is the EREV going to be a flop?

For many of us, the trade-offs for a more leisurely paced road trip are just fine! My longer road trips are now more relaxing knowing that I will simply charge and eat, but I have great infrastructure on East Coast and don't see all these problems you seem to have. In fact, I have never waited...

    All terrain tires

Yes, Rivian did the same thing by spec'ing EV-Specific AT Scorpions from Pirelli. They are OK in snow, but not even close to the Nokian's for regular snow use with real winter conditions (even though Rivian says they are). I just run the Pirelli's as soon as the Nokian's come off (end of...

Actual delay official and order of deliveries confirmed?

Exactly - everyone's definition of truck stuff is different. That is not my definition. To me that is "HD Towing". I would be using a diesel for long-haul HD towing too. My towing is all local, so my definition of truck stuff is not the same as yours, and I don't need a goose neck, so my R1T...

    Scout delayed??

Yep. I just checked my profile and my join date shows: "Joined Dec 21, 2022" was lurking around before that.

    Scout delayed??

    NEGATIVE GHOST RIDER.

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

I remain highly skeptical - for too many reasons to list here, but also have no dog in that fight. I also don't believe Slate will be a relevant competitor to Scout (when looking across the market).

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

Huge difference between whiplash across an entire market and artificially-generated whiplash from a single brand struggling with a product that has zero demand. So much so that Tesla does NOT break-out CT sales in their financials. Scout sits in an entirely different class. Scout's mass market...

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

Whoa. I assume you keep your R1T if you make that move? Slate is just in a whole different category (maybe not even the "truck" category) and you said you took your R1T off-road frequently above.
