  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

    Carplay unconfirmed?!

I mean... Rules lawyering here. The question was, “any idea if there will be Carplay available?" The response was, “yes.” That could be an answer to the “any idea” part of the question, not the “will be Carplay” part of the question. Could mean: “Yes, I have an idea if there will be...

    Ability to Fit a Snowplow

As long as the sensors in the front don’t freak out so much that the vehicle becomes inoperable. Please make sure they allow a setting, however deep, to disable front and rear sensors below some very low speed limit.

I missed this part in my earlier response. If it’s well-designed, they don’t need a water pump in the engine. They can put an electric coolant pump up near the heat pump so it’s easier to access and easier to service. This would also allow them to heat the engine before starting it, giving them...

What kind of tech do you expect enabled in the car or interface?

We have a similar ordinance. The problem is that when we get snow, it dumps a lot very quickly. We’re in the top ten snowiest cities (yes, in AZ) in the country. But we don’t get it all year long, just in big dumps.

What kind of tech do you expect enabled in the car or interface?

That’s great when the vehicle isn’t moving. And I did that before driving away. Much of this snow accumulated while I was driving through town before I got to the highway. I’m not going to get out of the vehicle at every light to clean off the hood. Nor am I going to stop on the side of the...

What kind of tech do you expect enabled in the car or interface?

If Scout offered a cold-weather (or whatever) package, they could easily include something like this as well as heaters for the headlights, etc.

What kind of tech do you expect enabled in the car or interface?

I have some low power stick-on heating pads I’ve been thinking of installing. But they’ll require an auxiliary switch to operate (and I’d probably want to set up a timer and thermostat to shut them off when appropriate. One of the things that would be nice and I’ve mentioned before is if Scout...

What kind of tech do you expect enabled in the car or interface?

I was finally able to capture a video of the issue I have with snow accumulation on the hood of an EV. Without waste heat, the snow just accumulates instead of melts. Then at speed it flies off in clumps of frozen, wet, blobs and into the windshield. I was in a meeting for two hours while snow...

Help me decide BEV or EREV

Yeah, I’m ignoring that concept drawing in an expectation that they’ll shift that genset forward. If they don’t, then all the mass of that will contribute to tongue weight and reduce the towing capacity by ~10x the genset mass. If it’s about 300 pounds, then the maximum tow capacity will be...

Do You Want Your Scout To Have A Hands-Free Driving System?

We’re letting our Level2 ADAS from Ford expire on our Mustang. It’s been great, but I’m not paying more than $0.00 per month for any subscription services. The experience from other brands with new models seems to suggest the first year or two will have more features than subsequent years...

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

There’s no technical limitation to doing this. The Lightning allows full power draw from the Pro Power Onboard inverters while also charging. I regularly run my camping fridge from the onboard inverter while also charging the Lightning at a DCFC. Obviously if the charging rate is slower than...

Help me decide BEV or EREV

Towing with the Harvester is probably going to be mostly thermal dependent. My speculation: Once they set a total GVWR & GCWR with the BEV, they'll trade battery mass for fuel+engine (±) mass. Hopefully they'll place most of the fuel and engine mass forward of the rear axle so they don't lose...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

If Jeep made a BEV Wrangler with ~300 miles range, I don’t think I could stop my partner from buying one. Despite my distrust of Stellantis.

On the Lightning, I can close the mirrors while driving. So if I needed to, I could squeeze in where the mirrors don’t fit. Hopefully the Traveler will have that option too.

I’m not basing width on looks, I’m basing it on the dimensions they provide on their site. Those are as close to certain as anything else.

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

Don’t forget the doors. The Traveler will almost certainly have longer doors, which means they won’t be able to open as wide as the Wrangler’s doors. So, the Traveler’s tires will be 1.5 inches closer to whatever, but its doors are closer to the tires and its doors are longer. The Traveler’s...

Help me decide BEV or EREV

Many of us did, but they heavily filter that air. It’s much easier to filter a small volume of air in an airplane than the massive volume of air in an airport. The lower-population density areas of the airport are cleaner, but it’s still not my favorite place to breathe. It’s both for...

If I could, I’d book a separate seat for all the gear I want to carry with me on the plane. :)

Help me decide BEV or EREV

I wear a mask whenever I fly. And throughout my conferences. I went until last year without catching COVID, and only caught it because I spent a week with an elderly family member in a hospital. I don't want the flu. I don't want a cold. I don't want any respiratory illness. I've gone six years...

Help me decide BEV or EREV

This is great. One addendum: From someone who is about mid-range on miles per year (15k to 25k per year, depending on work and family obligations), and a higher-than-average road trip miles/year, my BEV experience is far superior to my hybrid experience.
