  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Regenerative braking

I do get the muscle memory aspect of it in that it mimics an ICE, but unlike an ICE it is not doing anything mechanical - just so everyone's cool with that. Unfortunately, you won't be able to repeat your Acura trick with the Scout - all electrics use a deceleration rate threshold at which...

Want a Scout. Don't want the Drama!

In 10 years the battery size only increased by 10kWh (the current models have 95kWh batteries) but range increased 145 miles. That ~4.5%/year in range. Mpge went from 89 to 124 (3.4%/year). Power went from 416 to 670 (nearly 5%/year). I wouldn't classify that as "essentially the same."...

Want a Scout. Don't want the Drama!

Thanks for the info - I forgot about the Electric G-Wagen. 239 miles of range and 4.1 0-60 for $160k? Scout beats it on literally every measure (except perhaps number of appearances on C-list celebrity Instagram feeds). I won't hold my breath with Stellantis - although my 12 year old daughter...

    Regenerative braking

I have never had paddles. My ICE cars have been manual shift (1985 Nissan pickup, 2000 TJ, 2003 WRX, 2006 Corvette) or regular automatics (2007 WK Diesel). That being said, I understand their use in an ICE that has a transmission to shift gears. But... EVs don't have gears. This is...

Want a Scout. Don't want the Drama!

Dude. Please stop. Go read your post that started this thread. Literally your first sentence was, "I think the Scout is going to be a flop." That is literally the OPPOSITE of being "open to the fact that it's could be fantastic." You come in like a belligerent ass, dooming a product and...

Want a Scout. Don't want the Drama!

    Uhhhhh. Having owned a 2012 Model S P85 previously and now a 2018 Model S 100D and 2022 Model X Plaid your statement is objectively false. The 2012 Model S had a 265 mile range. The current model is 410. 2012 Model S85 0-60 5.4, current model 3.1. Further, we paid $100k for our 2012 P85...

    Regenerative braking

I hope Scout follows GM's path. NO PADDLES! Just blend regen on the brake pedal and also have a toggle for one pedal driving. Go drive a new Equinox or Blazer EV. They nailed it IMO (this coming from a 16-year Tesla owner). IMO paddles are a gimmick to live out someone's F1 fantasies. Yes...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

Glad you all are here! I'm hoping to get a leftover '26 model later this year when the '27s come out so it will be a new vehicle purchase. A close family friend is a Chevy salesperson so hopefully he can bundle in as much extra stuff as possible. I also hope they have some incentives to clear...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

Thanks for the info! Didn't realize they give you that long for a trial. I just saw where "remote start" required a $15/month Onstar subscription.

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

Good point. I meant it should be table stakes for a clean sheet design from a non-legacy manufacturer. I am looking into an Equinox EV for my son and I am reading some troubling things about their app. Seems they tried to cobble together stuff from the old OnStar network and an app that is...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

So with every EV I've used (Tesla and Volvo), as soon as you open the door it will engage the HVAC based on the last settings for that driver (Tesla will keep track of driver profiles and tied to phone key or keyfob and will activate the seating, mirror, infotainment, and HVAC settings of that...

Bi-directional Charging / Home Power Backup

In Tesla's case they don't want to compete with their Powerwall home battery solution. But in general, manufacturers are worried that people will abuse their batteries and cause warranty issues - powering your house with the car doesn't run the odometer so the batteries are experiencing charge...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

That should be table stakes for an app. The Tesla app lets you choose temp, defrost, fan speed, plus steering wheel and seat heaters.

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

Ha! You taught me something today. Tesla calls it "Keep." I have always turned on dog mode when I wanted the car to maintain temp after I exited.

Scout Motors Needs to Rethink “Local” Service. Don't do the Tesla model.

There are so many variables with insurance it is hard to compare apples to apples. I pay $157/month for my 2022 Tesla Model X Plaid (I'm with USAA). @cyure I can't imagine the Scout being more than the Rivian. Rivians are $$.

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

If this is your first EV you are about to change your behavior. Preconditioning will be become automatic and is a game changer. That way the car is already halfway to defrosted by the time you get out there (and using shore power to do so so no range decrease). But without preconditioning...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

-<sigh>- Around and around it goes..... As I said back on page 1 - Scout is following the path of Tesla and Rivian, the only successful new car companies in the US in like 100 years. Start with the high margin vehicles first to start paying back the immense amount of debt that they have...

    Snowstorm 2026

We got ~6" here in NE Oklahoma. Luckily it stayed really cold so no ice. It's rare to get more than a dusting here so everything has shut down for the past 2 days. Kids may go back to school tomorrow. We don't get enough snow to have a plow so yesterday I taught my son how to use the loader...

    Solid State Battery that's baked

Your definition of "deployed" and "baked" are different than mine. A quick Google search said they are aiming for a 2030 production debut. They are doing road testing but it's been maybe a year which IMO is not baked. I am confident that Scout and other manufacturers will use the battery tech...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

Oh good grief. Your ignorance knows no bounds. Why have American Corporations shipped so much manufacturing to China, Mexico, etc over the past few decades? Lower wages (costs in general). I asked ChatGPT what autoworker salaries are in China and the US. CountryTypical Median Frontline...
