  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Using an EV for backup power in case of power outage

If you are adding batteries to your solar system and have a EV with V2L, you can skip the generator. The batteries would work just like my Delta Pro 3 does, and you can use the V2L to charge up the batteries when they get low.

Factory Pick Up - Cost and what does it include?

Destination charges are not mandated by law. The federal regulations require destination charges be listed as a separate, non-negotiable fee on the window sticker if they charge it. The exact language is: Since Scout wouldn't be using a dealer for factory pick-up (they are planning to not use...

Joining the EV gang while waiting for Scout!

The correct response to this is "Actually, I will warm up anyone that sits there." Then wait to see how long it takes for him to figure it out.

    Partnering with an EV camper

The Honda camper looks like a great concept, but not very practical in the real world. There are too many compromises to make it look cute.

Using an EV for backup power in case of power outage

There have been several discussions in the Scout forums about using the Scouts as backup power during a power outage. I wanted to share some of my information so people have some real data to use if they are planning for this. Note that the data is specific for my house - but you should be able...

Factory Pick Up - Cost and what does it include?

One thing I would want/suggest is that Scout charges for the "full day experience", whatever that might turn out to be. That way: those that don't want to spend the day (or get local delivery) are not subsidizing those that want the experience, and everyone that participates in the experience...

    Delivery Options

Since I have not seen anyone else mention it yet... There have been several people in this forum that requested the ability to pick up their Scout at the factory in South Carolina. The official response from Scout has been "we are looking into it." So you are not alone in your desire to do a...

    Thoughts on Factory 37s

@speedrye You will not need a snorkel for the Harvester. You only need a snorkel if vehicle needs to run the engine while in water. Since the Harvester is a serial hybrid, you don't need to run the engine all the time. You'll just need an air intake that prevents water from getting in; you can...

Traveler or Terra for Road Trips/Daily

I am 100% in for the Scout Terra pickup truck. But, that is because I already have a small BEV SUV (HI5 - Hyundai Ioniq 5) which I intend to keep after purchasing the Scout Terra. If something happens to my HI5 I might reconsider getting the Traveler, but probably not. I regularly need to haul...

    Home Charger Reviews and FAQs

Which is why I said "so even in a widespread power outage at least one of them will still be operational" in my original post. I know other parts of the country will be different, but where I live the outages are typically caused by downed power lines (tree limb, accidents). Thus, they are...

    Jeep Recon

Looking at the tables they provided, I'm guess this is what they came up with to justify charging $100,000 for a RAM pickup truck.

Keep them (and yourself) safe, @cyure . 🙏 As the son of an emergency room nurse and the father of a child that works in healthcare, I know the struggle with poor road conditions. It is one of the reasons I always by AWD or 4WD vehicles.

Preparing an EV for a winter storm...

The best advice I have for a situation like this is the same advice the weather forecasters always give - stay home if you can. I am working from home today even thought I had planned to be in the office. We had freezing rain overnight and snow showers in the morning. While I am confident my...

Joining the EV gang while waiting for Scout!

I have had the plug refuse to unlock when charging at home, and what I found is that if the unlock button on the fob doesn't work, try using the unlock button on the driver's door. That has successfully unlocked the charging plug each time. But, I have not tried this while climate control was on.

    Home Charger Reviews and FAQs

Another thing to keep in mind is that a BEV has an added advantage - its a mobile battery pack. If you are in a prolonged power outage, you can use the vehicle's batteries to power your house. When the battery level gets low, drive to a DCFC and recharge. I am currently using a Delta Pro 3 as...
