  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

    Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

    How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

    Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

    So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Independent Suspension vs Solid Rear Axle??

    Can you explain how a solid axle leads to better articulation? That seems counterintuitive, given that it seems like there would be fewer constraints on an independent system. I understand the fulcrum bit, that makes more sense to me but I’m confused by the articulation thing.

    What’s your hobby

    Agreed. The 90s were basically yesterday. It’s one of those wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey things.

    Make steering wheel sportier

    I want to be in control of when the vehicle is on or off, not some AI, or algorithm or interpretation of my actions or intent or body position. Just because I open the door, or sit down, or inadvertently tap a pedal doesn’t mean I want the car on, and just because I stand up or exit the vehicle...

    I like to crochet, but I don’t have the patience/dexterity/mental discipline for knitting. Kudos! Looks great!

    Test drive options

    That’s a good idea. My wife and I test drove a polestar, and while I liked it pretty well, she found the seats pretty uncomfortable. Turns out we’re different people with unique bodies and acknowledging and validating her experience and opinions tends to lead to greater harmony in life. Stuff...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

    I’d love to see them succeed, but I get more skeptical every year. It’s probably not a vehicle for me, but I’d love to see them on the road.

    Lexus LX/Tesla3 ==> Terra BEV

    That’s a good question and I’m probably not qualified to answer, but I remember hearing some tales of 1,000,000 mile plus Teslas and when I googled them one that came up was a Tesla model S with 1,200,000 miles that was on its 4th battery. Another Google result was consistent with that saying...

    Lexus LX/Tesla3 ==> Terra BEV

    The last 2 cars we got rid of were both over 200k miles. One we traded in, the other crashed, but both were starting to require more repairs, starting to wear a bit, etc. Basically seemed like 200k was about time to start looking for a replacement, when a lot of things start to need extra...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

    That’s a great video. Straight from the fire department, no hype or drama, some interesting info. Realistic indication of what’s involved dealing with a battery fire. They may not happen often, but they’re not trivial.

    2 door Terra option

    I’m sure it doesn’t apply to anyone here, but I expect there are fair number of people who like the idea of a pick up truck, but actually need a four or five seater vehicle, so instead of getting an SUV sedan they get a 4 door pick up truck. That probably distorts the market a bit, with the...

    FB find of the day

    When they get Scout “experience centers” (or whatever they end up calling them) set up, I’m gonna be extremely disappointed if we aren’t allowed to test drive them on the roof.
