  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

    FB find of the day

IMO Scout is in a prime position to use colors as a differentiator. Rivian's palette is mostly drab greyscale stuff and IMO customers are absolutely ready for a change.

Cybertruck doesn't compete with Scout (in any meaningful way) for four reasons. Completely different ethos. Scout is a modern EV with classic looks, traditional UX, and semi-blue collar vibe of Carhartt clothing. Pretty much the opposite of what Cybertruck is going for, hard to imagine someone...

School districts, universities, counties, municipalities, utilities, auxiliary vehicles for first responders, etc. all would be perfect. They don't cover a lot of daily mileage, they don't need any creature comforts other than AC, going EV would eliminate a lot of maintenance/fuel spend, and of...

You're totally right but I'm pretty sure that was the goal from the very beginning. Every detail about this vehicle seems perfectly suited for fleet sales. Also let's not forget Slate continues to show off their cars wrapped in various fictious businesses, some with humor, but still highlighting...

Concern about the complexity and cost of repairs/maintenance for EREV

I had to run this through ChatGPT because there's a lot to unpack and it's actually game changing. First this quote "if the Scout Harvester EREV is sold as a new, road-legal passenger vehicle in any CARB state (CA, WA, OR, NY, etc.), Scout essentially has no option but to certify it as a TZEV...

That would make my purchase decision very easy.

Fair point and screw those guys. That said, dealers have stopped marking them up for quite some time now yet cars are still sitting on lots unsold with main complaints being it's too expensive and/or no point in owning a van if you can't road trip it due to small range.

In ID Buzz news, Volkswagen Dealers received the following comms yesterday... Everybody loved the ID Buzz when it came out. They loved the looks, the practicality, the space, how it drove, features, everything, however few bought them because of high price and low range. The lesson here for...

Concern about the complexity and cost of repairs/maintenance for EREV

Big picture: You'll be maintaining either a Volkswagen EA211 or an EA888 engine and all that comes with it. That's the downside. For upsides there's actually two... The engine will see very light and controlled use meaning a 100K mile Scout might have an engine with the equivalent of I dunno...

Modesto Scouts | Colton’s Scout Collection & Updates

RIP Modesto Nuts That said I like the Roadsters branding a lot more, however my allegiance is to the San Jose Giants. Looking forward to seeing a Roadsters-Giants game soon.

Air Suspension vs. Coils - Long Term Durability vs. Real Capability

IMO that has nothing to do with levels of passion and everything to do with modern vehicles offering what customers want out of the box either as standard equipment or an upgrade package. As far as warranty coverage is concerned, remember thanks to the Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act the manufacturer...

Air Suspension vs. Coils - Long Term Durability vs. Real Capability

I had a Wrangler rental in Maui earlier this year and while the novelty was fun and think the Wrangler is a great vehicle for what it is, it's just not something I could live with full time. Hopefully we have a well balanced vehicle here that doesn't require an expensive air suspension upgrade...

Air Suspension vs. Coils - Long Term Durability vs. Real Capability

I really like this OP and am in the same boat as you. My biggest concern with Scout is ride quality with that solid rear axle/BOF build. Reality is most customers including myself will cover 99% of total miles driven on pavement. Horray if it can do the Rubicon Trail, but if it's awful to drive...

    Possible competition?

The problem with EREVs is the masses don't understand them. Ford will have to spend millions on educating the public on what this system is and why it's a superior setup for truck use cases. That education will also help customers understand and maybe even consider Scout.

Putting Scout aside for a moment, what's the consensus on the EV work truck market these days? How has Lightning and Silverado EV done on fleet sales?

I would encourage you to listen to the Rivian presentation before commenting because that's exactly what the majority of the presentation was about! They're shifting autonomy processing away from cloud servers and onto the vehicles themselves thanks to new chips they've developed. Also all this...

Haha, yeah I thought about it but it would have been a crappier cell phone version of this pic. Had this camo, those wheels, and was parked at this angle. Even if I did take a pic, I wouldn't post it since it was taken on private property while in my personal vehicle which could lead to a bad...

Nope, just the R2 in camo and a bunch of R1's that could potentially be software mules for VW Group products like Scout/VW/Audi/Porsche/Lambo. At this stage I wouldn't expect anything resembling a finished Scout anyway, more likely an engineering rig like this..
