  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Retrofitting a winch

Further searching for your winch specs led me to this warn blog: https://www.warn.com/the-history-of-the-warn-belleview-winch In this blog they talk about the benefits of a modern winch over their first version, the M6000 from Belleview under the Warn name.

    Retrofitting a winch

The shear size of that winch might be the prohibitive factor. Not to mention, the 6000lb max load, maybe you are lucky and have the later 8000lb version Considering the Terra should weigh in about 6-8k lbs, this winch is woefully under powered for any type of recovery efforts, unless you’re...

    Retrofitting a winch

The ability to install said 60 year old winch to the terra will depend on the volt and amp draw, plus the bumper and its ability to mount said winch. Do you have the specs of the winch?

I’d much rather a solid roof. I can’t tell you how many time I dropped stuff on the roof of my 4Runner loading gear. I’d rather not risk breaking the glass or tearing the ragtop. Solid metal please, no sunroof

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

I for one do not want an extended range ev. Especially in CA where even the generator on a vehicle requires smog testing. Get me a BEV using solid state batteries with a 600+ mile range. If Mercedes and BMW can prototype these today, we should have them in 2 years globally.

Are you OK with Scout vehicles starting under $60K?

Are you a bot DW? Because you have the same post twice without cause.

Are you OK with Scout vehicles starting under $60K?

I don’t base my decision to purchase solely based on price. Does the number align with the value? How does it compare to the competition? Does the vehicle meet my needs? Like many of you, there are specific items we would like to see in a 60-90k EV. I’m big on build quality, range...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

I don’t care the scout starts at $60k. Like you mentioned OP, I’m also a high earner. My first EV was an Audi eTron, 80k + TLD My first R1S was 109k+ lux tax, reg tax, registration and docs fees. Biggest POS I’ve ever owned. I made the mistake of ordering a second R1S, the quad LE at 129k...

    Custom External Sounds

I would love nothing more than to have my EV sound like The Jetsons aero sedan. Especially slowing down and then speeding up again.

    Rivian Rs2 vs Scout Traveler

Actually, my R1S was bought back 3 months ago. 5 months of ownership, 32 days in service. While it should have been lemon’d, Rivian did a voluntary repurchase so they avoided lemon title status

    Rivian Rs2 vs Scout Traveler

They can’t fix that. This is how they manufacture their vehicle. The quad I ordered was worse, I just didn’t take pictures during delivery, and we refused delivery for a few reasons. I’ll take and upload a pic of our BMW IX in the same location to compare.

    Rivian Rs2 vs Scout Traveler

Oh yea. Forgot to post this about the R1S If you are wondering, yes that’s my finger between the windshield, the a-pillar, and the appliqué. Wonder why Rivian has so many complaints about wind noise…

LAIAS 2025 was great. Scout represented well

I forgot to answer your color question. The blue in person is very light, and my wife likes how it looks. The green on the terra is more akin to a hunter/army green, which I think is visually stunning. If I can order a traveler in pine green (I think that was the color), with a solid roof, 18”...

LAIAS 2025 was great. Scout represented well

Drove to LA (which I despise greatly) for the 2025 international auto show… While signing in and getting my daughter a wrist band, my wife excitedly screams out SCOUT! SCOUT!! I see a SCOUT!!! Turns out Scout was right out front and we spent the next hour discussing the SUV with the really...

    Warranty work with the Scout?

To the OP, I’m on our 3 EV brand. Audi, Rivian, and now BMW. Only one brand needed a ton of warranty work, one brand hasn’t been to the dealership since purchase. Take a guess which one was the worst offender. I’m really looking forward to the Scout and I sincerely hope VAG puts their best...

    Rivian Rs2 vs Scout Traveler

I got news for you… my R1S had nothing but problems with the touch screen. Lag, failed response, frozen, all caused by poorly designed software and a capacitive touch screen. I’ll take physical buttons that are tested 100s of thousands of times before they are used in a vehicle.
