  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    actual ranges before orders?

In the real world the difference is academic. The regen process is quite efficient, not perfect, but quite good. Where do you all drive that you can coast for "long distances?" I literally live in flyover country and there is not a lot of opportunity to coast... I agree with @Cranky Canuck...

    Make steering wheel sportier

I know we're going around on this but this use case still makes no sense to me. The car is literally ready in seconds. In the time it takes for you to open the door, sit down, and press the brake pedal it is ready to go into drive. I fail to see how keeping the car "on" saves you any time...

    Make steering wheel sportier

Agreed. No change for Harvester. @cyure I thought you were all-in on full BEV? :) I'm sure it could be disabled in software so that would be my vote if they insist on having it. No need for a second wheel - I will just ignore it.

    Make steering wheel sportier

I've heard the term "squircle" pronounced, skwerkel. The current Scout wheel looks good to me. I think they did a good job of blending the old and the new, as they did with the rest of the vehicle. That being said, I HATE the on/off switch. It is completely useless in an EV and just adds...

Question about Pedal Feel and Driving Characteristics

The original Tesla Roadster had issues with this. The chassis for that first model was built by Lotus. In an effort to save costs, Tesla leveraged a lot of the already DOT-approved systems from the Lotus Elise, including the brake system. Those brakes did not work very well at all until they...

Question about Pedal Feel and Driving Characteristics

Teslas have NEVER had regen on the brake pedal. The systems have always been completely separate. Obviously, when you lift your foot off the accelerator to move it to the brake, the car will start to regen. There is a delay/ramp programmed into the regen (so it doesn't pitch you forward too...

Question about Pedal Feel and Driving Characteristics

In the early days, Tesla offered a choice between standard (maximum) and low regen. They also allowed you to select how it would behave at a stop, Creep (like an automatic ICE) or Hold. Nowadays however, there are no choices. All cars are set to max regen and Hold. The accelerator only...

First Time EV Owner: Live experience report

Thanks for sharing your experiences! I think Hyundai needs to work on their software. A Tesla will regen down to a "limo stop" every single time. It should never be abrupt (unless you're stomping on the brake to avoid something of course). Same comment for coming off cruise. Teslas have a...

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

I don't think Scout has released hard numbers yet but from what I've read, the pack will be 120-130kWh and range will be 350 miles. Assuming those pack sizes are usable (big assumption), that would put consumption at .342kWh/mile to .371kWh/mile.

Test drove a couple Wranglers today…

Thanks for the write-up! I think the 33s look great and I agree, I don't think it's worth the range penalty for 35s. I'm also glad to hear that the "cabana" roof was pretty quiet (though you are a Wrangler driver so your definition of quiet may be different than other people :). I'm leaning...

ICE To EV. 2019 Tundra to 2023 F150 Lightning Lariat.

Congrats on the new ride! For your L2 EVSE, Tesla makes one that is NACS but with a built in J1772 adapter so it will serve you now and when you get your Scout. It's also the same price as the Emporia. Click on the video to see how the adapter works. Pretty slick IMO...

One feature that made you pull the the trigger on a reservation….

My daughter is 12 and really wants a Wrangler when she turns 16 (my wife had a YJ as her first vehicle). I'm hoping the Recon (or an actual BEV Wrangler) is a thing by the time she turns 16. I had a 2000 TJ and absolutely loved it. Only thing I had to do other than routine maintenance was a...

I REALLY hope they put a 240/30 plug in the Traveler like they have in the Terra. That would be awesome.

You will get used to the power but it never gets boring. I use as much pedal as I need when merging. But what I have noticed is that with this much power I need WAY less space to do the merge so that is helpful. Same thing with merging into traffic during a left turn. You don't need much of...

First Time EV Owner: Live experience report

I'm definitely open to having both. I just hope the paddles are unobtrusive as I will never use them. I really don't want Ferrari-style paddles back there. Buttons on the rear of the steering wheel spokes would be good (that's where the radio controls are in my Jeep Gran Cherokee - they are...

From a Tesla and Lightning Owner: Here’s What I Need to See from Scout

Just so you are aware, the NHTSA added "ejection mitigation" to the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards starting in 2013. There is now a test that has to be performed that shoots an "impactor" from the inside of the vehicle towards the windows. Any combination of side airbags and glass must...

First Time EV Owner: Live experience report

So I am a die-hard OPD fan. IMO, paddles are gimmicks. I can see how it could help someone transition from an ICE but I am a rip the band aid off kind of person. I have never driven a vehicle that had seamless blending between regen and friction brakes. In the Tesla and Volvo worlds, the...

Waiting for Scout, I leased an Ioniq 5. Here are things I'd like to Improve and as they relate to Scout Terra or Traveler

Sorry, I took for granted that all keyless entry vehicles nowadays allow you to choose whether all doors or just the driver's door is unlocked. Teslas certainly do.

Waiting for Scout, I leased an Ioniq 5. Here are things I'd like to Improve and as they relate to Scout Terra or Traveler

I have walk-up unlock enabled. It almost always works perfectly. The antennas for the phone/fob are in the side mirrors. The only time I have ever had an issue was approaching directly from the rear with my phone in my back pocket, fob in front pocket, but carrying something dense (like...

Waiting for Scout, I leased an Ioniq 5. Here are things I'd like to Improve and as they relate to Scout Terra or Traveler

Hmm. You must live in a rough neighborhood ;) The good news is that this is easily doable with software. In fact, Tesla makes this an option in settings - it's called Walk-Up Unlock. If it is disabled, you have to touch the door (or trunk) handle before it will query for the key (fob or...
