  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

What's the deal with software issues in many newer expensive EVs?

This is really reductive, and I will be showing my age a bit, but I just think of it as a Winamp skin. The software beneath is all the same; the only thing that changes is a the UX.

What's the deal with software issues in many newer expensive EVs?

You'll have to get in line behind the other exotic smartwatch owners. lol But seriously. Wassym responds to comments pretty often and its so cool to see a software executive talking to the end users about their experiences and requests. Make your voice heard and request Garmin watch support as...

What's the deal with software issues in many newer expensive EVs?

It's not all bad news. Plenty of happy and helpful folks there too. You'll find little gems like this there as well Looks like your old dog will still be learning some fun new tricks.

What's the deal with software issues in many newer expensive EVs?

Respectfully, we are trying to tell you that Rivian is the one supplying the code. It was announced a while back. This is the most recent press release about it...

What's the deal with software issues in many newer expensive EVs?

I know you love your Rivian, but there are plenty of owners that are not as enthused as you are in Rivian forums and the Rivian reddit. There are hundreds of posts complaining about one software bug or another. These are not my own feelings, but other owner anecdotes like yours. I fully...

What's the deal with software issues in many newer expensive EVs?

I think we are going to have a leg up, because by the time they are released, Rivians customer facing software will be around 7 years old. They should hopefully by then have most of their silly issues resolved. Scout will just be putting a skin on top of it if I understand things correctly, so...

I'm going to try to gas light myself about batteries and range

I guess you missed the inference that BEVs outperform ICE vehicles aside from range, which is kind of the point of this post. Acceleration, torque, lower center of gravity, etc. Where it lacks is range. If we could get 500 miles on pure BEV without the weight penalty and recharge to 80% in 20...

What's the deal with software issues in many newer expensive EVs?

I would summarize it as allocation of financial resources, and a lack of alpha testing by enough employees. Rivian has also had a few streaks where it would fix one issue and create three new ones with each update. Rivian will be providing the underlaying software for the Scout Motors brand...

Do You Want Your Scout To Have A Hands-Free Driving System?

Username checks out It will be so nice to engage it so I can turn around and beat my heathen children on road trips 🏓 I joke, but they caused the recent accident with my wife's van. I have told them "Do not yell or scream in the car or it can cause an accident" their entire lives. Well it...

    Vehicle Visualizer/Configurator Tool

I thought the understanding was that options on a visualizer would not be finalized, but on a configurator they would be.

Do You Want Your Scout To Have A Hands-Free Driving System?

One thing I would like to know if it hasn’t been covered already, is if self driving works in situations like heavy rain, fog, and snow.

Do You Want Your Scout To Have A Hands-Free Driving System?

I am very optimistic after seeing Rivians recent demo of their self driving tech.

That’s where the shovel comes in.

The Garage (What did you work on today?)

No it’s completely fair. The Overland thing has captured a lot of the “Glamper” market. Many of the expensive things people buy to kit their vehicles out only get used a few times. A lot of it is just to look the part. You can still have a great time with a cooler and a ground tent in a Geo...

VW is scaling back their investment in PowerCo and signaled they will be looking for outside investors to help with cash flow.

The Garage (What did you work on today?)

Listen buttheads… I’ve got nothing. Too true 🤣 Though everything I have as far as camping gear stuffed in there is all ultralight stuff now, like backpackers use. It’s pretty expensive compared to regular camping and overland gear. But it packs down very small and usually weighs far less so...

The Garage (What did you work on today?)

I’ve been a busy bee. Haven’t been posting much. Got the new Mosko Moto Reckless 80 luggage system. Tested it on my commute for a few days with an entire camping setup. It’s rock solid. Very impressed with the quality. Between that and the Rade Garage skidplate I have around 85L of storage...

Bigger Gas Tank - 15 Gallons is Abysmal

I’m not stressed about it. The aftermarket industry always fills in the gaps. My motorcycle has a 3.4 gallon tank that is integrated into the rear subframe, and the factory airbox is where a normal fuel tank would be under the seat. I wanted more range and a company in the Czech Republic...
