  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Plug in hybrid.

Sorry, but that makes absolutely no sense. Why would you "jettison that extra energy"? If the battery is at ~50%, that mean it still has ~50% capacity for more power. Have you every driven a hybrid (of any kind)? If there is sufficient battery power the vehicle runs on battery. Even the...

    Plug in hybrid.

Yes, you can "gas-and-go" with the Harvester - this has been confirmed multiple times by Scout representatives. You do not need to charge the battery at all, the Harvester can provide enough power to run at highway speeds. So, you can make a trip of any distance just stopping for gas every ~350...

    Plug in hybrid.

Where in that article does it say that they will only fill the battery to 50%? The only reference I found to something like that is this one: It says explicitly that the generator will be able to charge to any level: "..., it will maintain whatever level that is". If you are turning on the...

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

You should check if your charging station can support NACS. If your current home charging station can support NACS, then you should be able to use it for your Traveler.

    Scout Supply Merchandise Live

It is much too early for a Christmas tree. You should be ashamed of yourself! You are definitely getting coal in your sticking this year. As punishment, I am confiscating both of those ornaments. :p

    Off-topic stuff…

Good luck. Getting a proper diagnosis for intermittent stuff like this is the worst.

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

Make sure you set aside some space for food. The truck isn't the only thing that needs fuel.

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

Is a BEV or an EREV better when the SHTF? Now there is a debate that could go on for a while. If you are traveling in a SHTF scenario, which is more likely to be available and functional - gas stations or DCFC? If the power is out at your house, is there a DCFC nearby that is likely to be...

    Load Outs

Can you provide links to what you are referring to? I tried searching for the Land Rover "packs" you mentioned, but they seem to be exterior accessories (mud flaps, scuff plates, etc.). That does not seem like "adventure merch" to me.

    12v Battery: Not an afterthought

Yes, the Harvester has an alternator. After all, generating electrical power is the whole point of the Harvester. An alternator is for generating electrical power from a running engine. In an typical ICE vehicle the engine mainly drives the wheels, but it also drives an alternator to provide...

    12v Battery: Not an afterthought

Would you be willing to share what EV you have that doesn't charge the 12V when the vehicle is not powered on? It never occurred to me that there might be an EV that only charges the 12V battery when the vehicle is powered on. That seems like a really terrible design. My Hyundai Ioniq 5 has an...

    Staffing Open House

Since they are planning a new Headquarters in Charlotte, N.C., I expect they would have something like an open house when the new headquarters opens. It is a rather long drive for me, but I might make the trip if it is announced far enough in advance. And if the concepts (or better, early...

September 2025 Scout Motors Factory Update

A 21 year old daughter, hm? If you really want to mess with her, tell her you added the amount to the savings account you set up for her wedding. Then tell her right now you can afford a ladder. I wonder if a 21 year old will get the joke? Let us know in the comment below! :sneaky:

The bolt patterns and the battery pack on these will not match the production vehicles. Jamie has already told us that.

September 2025 Scout Motors Factory Update

Since the September update did not come out until Oct 20th, don't get too anxious. I am confident we will get the October update before the end of November.

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

There is actually a big difference between the two. Look at the space below the center screen. The Scout has obvious physical controls (dials, buttons, and switches).

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

According to the info I have seen, Walmart DCFC chargers will "include NACS and CCS fast-charging connectors." Here is an article about them: https://evchargingstations.com/chargingnews/exclusive-walmart-ev-charging-network/
