  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Putting Scout aside for a moment, what's the consensus on the EV work truck market these days? How has Lightning and Silverado EV done on fleet sales?

I would encourage you to listen to the Rivian presentation before commenting because that's exactly what the majority of the presentation was about! They're shifting autonomy processing away from cloud servers and onto the vehicles themselves thanks to new chips they've developed. Also all this...

Haha, yeah I thought about it but it would have been a crappier cell phone version of this pic. Had this camo, those wheels, and was parked at this angle. Even if I did take a pic, I wouldn't post it since it was taken on private property while in my personal vehicle which could lead to a bad...

Nope, just the R2 in camo and a bunch of R1's that could potentially be software mules for VW Group products like Scout/VW/Audi/Porsche/Lambo. At this stage I wouldn't expect anything resembling a finished Scout anyway, more likely an engineering rig like this..

Happening right now: Rivian's AI and Autonomy day livestream from Palo Alto https://rivian.com/autonomy Funny enough I was in Palo Alto yesterday with my wife and decided to swing by the Rivian office. Lots of employees hanging out front, people arriving, parking lot full, offices you could see...

A reminder that Scout shared this image which shows what they're going for.

    Warranty work with the Scout?

Guys, Scout is going to have stores and service centers, they just won't be "dealerships" aka 3rd party companies like AutoNation. So what does a manufacturer owned store/service center look like? Well funny enough I was in San Francisco today and stumbled upon a Rivian store & service center...

Or take it a step further, it could serve as propaganda for wife/kid to get more on board with future Scout purchase.

I'll pass on brochure since it would simply have the same info/pics seen on the website. I'll take some swag, stuff you'd probably find on the Scout Supply site...hat, coffee mug, etc. Of course, given they have 100K+ reservation holders that's a lot of marketing spend for even one of those...

I'm hoping my gift includes an NDA form and an invitation to the Rivian office in Palo Alto so I can see Scout mules.

Hah, I've mentioned it before but I originally reserved BEV, then switched to Harvester, but decided to switch it back because I just don't think it's needed where I live and I'm not interested in maintaining yet another VW Group 4 cylinder engine.

Updated my address and updated my reservation to BEV while I was in there.🍻

We're definitely getting there, some places faster than others. Here in California I'd say we're probably there unless you're in some very random remote part of the state where there aren't many services anyways, gas stations or otherwise. Case in point, if you did an SF-LA drive, this would be...

Stainless no, but yes to a matte silver. Mercedes has a matte silver color called "Designo Iridium Silver Magno" which is incredible in person. It essentially turns the car into a sculpture and highlights all the curves/creases/cuts of the bodywork. It's super hard to photograph properly but...

Nice. Yeah I love seeing all the prototypes driving around and these days it's a ton of AV companies testing their stuff. Some are badged like Nuro, Zoox, Wayve, Mercedes, etc., and some aren't like the unmarked Rav4 I saw this morning with a lidar and some kind of blade mounted to it's roof...

As the Silicon Valley resident here, between Rivian's office in Palo Alto, VW's office in Belmont, Audi's office in San Jose, and Scout's "office" in Fremont that is likely TBD, I have no doubt I have no doubt I'll be seeing these prototypes next year and will make sure to report back.

According to a German VW Group engineer I know who works at the Palo Alto office (and by that I mean Rivian's office in Palo Alto where all this is happening), VW has at least one VW, Audi, Porsche, Scout, and (I believe) Lamborghini model being worked on there. Brands like Seat and Skoda do not...
