  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

One nice thing about the Hennesy is that it has fully integrated bug net - you can literally hang it, add your sleeping pad and zip yourself into it like a burrito in seconds (and a tarp also comes with it). Everything stuffs into a tiny compression sack. This thing came in pretty handy for me...

Fellow fan of the sleeping hammock - I have a Hennesy. Only thing I don't like about it, is I find it hard to sleep in more than 1 position. Woke up here on the AT in northern ME to some twigs snapping and a moose rambling around through the dark. Felt slightly exposed. but probably worse being...

Crappy pic, but this non-AMZN Rivian Delivery van drove by walking the dog the other day. Cool to see other companies taking advantage of the EV last mile opportunity with Rivian. This Factor van is apparently delivering food for Hello Fresh. I think they ordered 70 vans to start. This is the...

For me, the only consideration for minor range loss is whether or not you might need any extra buffer when traveling long distances, and perhaps planning a charging stop accordingly. Couple of points (that were already made above): The vehicle S/W accounts for this with displayed range...

You can also add temperature to the list. Looks like you are quite warm there with the screen showing 93 degrees. We are going down into the 20's tonite, so temp obviously becomes a bigger variable in the winter months, and the range estimates will reflect colder temps over a drive based on...

The Ford news coming out of Detroit doesn't sound great: 1. First, there was the Novelis fire (the Novelis plant supplies almost half of the aluminum to Ford) 2. Then, they paused all EV production at the Rouge factory in October 3. On Thursday this week Ford's CEO stated that they were working...

I wonder how that Ranch Mushroom Terra would look with a black or white roof? If I had to pick one, i think it would be Mushroom, as long as it wasn't a matte-type finish.

I thought Ford was only temporarily shutting down F-150 Lightening production until they could figure out their supply chain shortages due to the Aluminum fire at their supplier (Novelis). Looks like this is also the result of a tariff on Aluminum, but maybe someone else can confirm if they will...

Thats great and everyone can have an opinion. I was offering a perspective that the comparison between the two timelines is less important (and I was providing context as to why). Also, I'm not sure why you think i thought you were attacking Rivian - I never thought that or said that. And I...

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

Looking at 12,000 miles at an AVG of 50MPH would put you at a 240 hour service interval, which seems entirely within the realm of possibilities, but of course, all speculation at this stage in the game. Maybe that avge speed is too high and the service interval could be longer (like every 400...

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

Agreed - but I also spend a lot of time at idle (not max power), but it still counts the same in terms of hours running for maintenance purposes. As you point out, the Harvester will operate at a continuous and steady power level. i was also thinking that somewhere in the 100-200 hour rang is...

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

Here are a few themes I'm picking up from EREV reservations holders (in this thread and across the site): 1. Price is an important driver - as well as "value" 2. Production Specs for comparison between EREV & BEV may sway reservation holders (either way) if pricing is too high 3. Maintenance is...

Yes. Scout has an obvious edge with VW in terms of their parts bin and engineering experience and cash infusion, but it's very difficult to say that they are "further ahead" at this stage, since Rivian's birth revolved around the development of a sports car before pivoting (and since a more...

Looks pretty good actually. Imagine if it had a flat bed in the rear and a completely removable bench seat? Somebody put a white or full black roof on that thing.
