  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

    Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

    How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

    Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

    So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Switching Harvester to All EV Model?

    I was just thinking to self, that’s got to be close to $600 per tank (depending on where you live). That’s the definition of pay to play. And I like it!

    59 Months (and counting) of EV driving...

    Your reasons are the same I’m sticking to the Harvester. I drive by multiple gas stations on the way to work, so filling up is not a big inconvenience. When I’m on the road I don’t want to have to stop for 30 minutes to charge.

    Switching Harvester to All EV Model?

    But look at the route I took. I never went to Butte. I went from Wise River to Anaconda. Butte would have been considerably out of the way.

    Will harvester models be "maintenance free" like their EV siblings?

    I have a hunch that anything Montana is not in their defined “Targeted Buyer” We plan to establish 100 Workshops across the country by 2032. Our goal is for more than 85 percent of these locations to be within 200 miles of our targeted buyers. This approach will make Scout ownership more...

    Will harvester models be "maintenance free" like their EV siblings?

    The bigger question I have is where do I have my Scout (EV or Harvester) serviced. When my truck needs an oil change I drop it off at the local Ram service center and they do all the work (we’re very fortunate that both the local Ram and Chevy service departments are really good). But the...

    59 Months (and counting) of EV driving...

    So the question I have is after all the months/miles of EV, would you consider the Harvester with the range extender, or is the pure EV still your preferred vehicle? You’ve got a lot of documented EV miles under your belt, so I’m just curious.

    Switching Harvester to All EV Model?

    The loop I planned was a little over 350 miles, and started and ended in Missoula. The stop in Darby looks the easiest to access on this map, and is roughly 60 miles into the drive. If I charged there to full, I’d have around 350 miles of range, and about 300 miles left on my trip. So in theory...

    Switching Harvester to All EV Model?

    I just did a big loop today as I played hookie on my birthday. I don’t see a pure EV being the right option for me in rural Montana. I made one stop to top off the tank in Wisdom to be safe, and was back on the road. I’m just too nervous about the lack of infrastructure in my area to go full EV.

    Lexus LX/Tesla3 ==> Terra BEV

    I don’t think it’s a social class thing. I’ve just seen too many vehicles that hit 100,000 miles that become a maintenance concern. I need to be able to trust my vehicle. I also want to know my wife is safe when on the road. My daily driver right now is no doubt ridiculous, but it’s a purchase...

    Lexus LX/Tesla3 ==> Terra BEV

    Apparently I’m in the minority here when it comes to mileage. As soon as a vehicle is close to 100,000 miles it goes away. I’m just not comfortable with my daily driver having that many miles on it.

    Lexus LX/Tesla3 ==> Terra BEV

    This is an interesting perspective with battery swaps. I’ve never put over 100,000 miles on a vehicle, so the swap of a battery at 200,000 miles is interesting.

    Test drove a couple Wranglers today…

    So it sounds like another dismal experience by a car salesperson. I’d like to say I’m shocked…. One of the very few reasons I drive a Ram is because the service department at my local dealer has been amazing. There’s a reason I haven’t bought a product from the local Ram dealership since 2004 -...

    What would your last vehicle be if you had to decide today

    Does budget come into play here? I have a coupe of expensive vehicles I’d love to have, bit the first that comes to mind is well north of $100,000. I’ve always loved the AEV Ram Prospector XL on 40” tires, but that comes with a huge payout (hence why I’ve never bought one). That said, I can’t...

    0-60 times with harvester

    I like the idea of a vehicle that can be both. That’s why I drive what I do every day. It checks off every box I have (and a few more): - Comfortable (I’m 6’8”, finding something I’m comfortable in is a challenge) - Good off road - Quick (for a truck) - Tows the family pontoon boat - Takes me to...

    Scout Terra Debuts in New Silo Color and Retheme

    That’s why an 18” rim should be max for a vehicle that will go off road (I’d prefer a 17” rim, but I get that sometimes there is a sacrifice to fit bigger brake pads). There is a reason why AEV with their 40” wheel uses a 17” Rim. More sidewall means better off road performance, and a softer...

    I'm going to try to gas light myself about batteries and range

    Range anxiety is one thing to overcome. The other for me is the time it takes to charge. Sure for day to day stuff it’s fine, just charge at home. However, on a long road trip when I’m trying to cover 500 plus miles, I don’t want to add any more time than I have to. I have zero interest in...
