  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

What one thing would you like to see changed from concept to production?

Maybe the tweaks will help prospective buyers realize that the Scout will support interesting modifications by owners - something that has been stated as a feature, differentiator to other EV's & a selling point. AGREED 100% - Even the smallest tweaks at this stage are massively expensive and...

    Rivian Tire Swap Function

All FUD. I got my truck in 2022 and took it to my local tire shop (they can use the Tesla pucks, but I bought my own set of pucks to be prepared). I printed out the instructions on tire swap and they have done a 5 tire rotation for me each six months since I got the truck. Sounds like Bob has...

Is that the F-150 mullet edition? Something weird going on there!

Back To Baja 2025 - The Documentary

Had to watch that one on the TV. Well done!

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

I felt (and feel) the same way. I give credit where credit is due for the early innovation that Tesla helped to drive, but I would NEVER own a Tesla, and have no interest in Elon as a person (or crazed lunatic fleecing shareholders and customers, or making wild promises that are untrue or never...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

I think about this exactly the same way. If there wasn't a Pure BEV Terra, I wouldn't be here. My perspective might be different though (if I didn't already have 50K+ miles of ownership experience in the R1T), so I understand why Scout is creating an intermediary solution (to help create...

    Towing Features?

Since Rivian's Zonal Architecture is being implemented by Scout through their partnership with VW, I would imagine you will end up with similar tow features to the R1T

What does the base model look like to you?

That is definitely going to sell - that R3X is going to be a fun car to drive for sure.

What does the base model look like to you?

Rivian experienced uncontrollable market & labor conditions with the pandemic just when they were launching, then of course had to deal with a massive supply chain shortage, as a result. They weren't trying to bait and switch, and as a business, they were seeking to cover costs that were beyond...

    Accelleration

As an owner of a truck that does 0-60 in 3 seconds, I will say its awesome (at first)... Then you realize you are just burning rubber and electrons at a faster rate launching, wake up and realize you are also in a big heavy truck, and you start to chill outtttttttt. I do love having the...

What one thing would you like to see changed from concept to production?

I totally get the sentiment. I think the difference in my R1T is that there isn't any difference if your sitting, or if you want to drive. You can just "go" when you put the truck in Drive, or you can just sit in the truck in park. Your intentions are made when you place the truck in Drive. If...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

Well respectfully, you are incorrect sir. First, the passenger compartment is double sealed to prevent water intrusion into the cabin (the R1T can be driven through water up to 43.1" deep). Obviously NOT having water fill the entire cabin plays a huge roll in recovery. Second, there is no...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

This guy's Rivian got swept away in Ashville NC during Hurricane Helene and buried in mud. Guy recovered it, charged it, then drove it away after the storm without any issues. That would not be the case in an ICE truck:

What one thing would you like to see changed from concept to production?

Just to clarify slightly - the "open and go" still requires some form of credential or handshake with the vehicle (could be a FOB) - the difference between an EV and ICE is there is a starter that needs to spin and an engine that needs to then fire-up in order for the vehicle to run (will be the...

Ford model T moment vs Scout motors

Ford sold the majority of its Rivian holdings over 2 years ago. They invested in the skateboard platform (not their battery tech) to build electric trucks, then re-trenched, launched their own EV and then sold holdings at a loss. At last check, they owned only about a 1% stake in Rivian. Now the...

    Must haves to purchase…

The R1T Quad in Snow has been great, but I always swap out for snows (Nokian Hakkas) each year once the snow flies. EV's are HEAVY. That means a couple of things. First, the added weight and low center of gravity of the truck tend to help the "planted" & controlled feel of the truck driving in...

    Must haves to purchase…

This is probably my only deal breaker. If it were Tacoma-sized, it would be a downgrade from my R1T. I like that Scout is building a full-sized truck (but can understand why others might want smaller dimensions too). If my Rivian had a bed that was 1 foot longer and a width that was ~2 inches...

    Solar Tonneau option

I would watch the video I posted that talks about real math. The problem is that in the real world all of that "hypothetical" math goes out the window (not to mention you're only charging to half the battery capacity in your model). An AI calculation using "best case" is never going to fly in...

    Terra 5th Wheel Towing?

Here's a Rivian "5th" wheel!!! And now you can clearly see why Rivian does not have a 5th wheel for towing:

    Solar Tonneau option

Yes, I am talking about more than the cover. You're also helping me to make my point, because there is so much more to it than the cover - particularly for Scout to worry about in terms of ongoing service and maintenance of the tonneau and transfer systems (plus inverter) - this is all without...
