  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Solid State Battery Tech for Dummies

Charging speed is a hypothetical. It will depend on a lot of factors in addition to the batteries themselves. Watts/kg is a little better, but ultimately depend on the framework needed to attach the cells to the car and the cooling system those cells require. Cycles till battery reaches 80%...

    solid state battery option

Timing. IF too many vehicles are planned to come out with next gen battery tech within 2 years of Scouts release, it could put decent pressure on initial sales numbers. Right now, solid state is still an unfulfilled promise. Various other tech and chemistries is also showing promise. Hard to...

Please do NOT use soy based wiring!

I think I have used my rat hotels 3 times so far. Killing 30-40 cuts the population for a few months-but rats breed like crazy. Air rifle with themal scope might have given some satisfaction-but did not make a dent. Between having chickens, and living between to ag feed stores (both were...

    Travelall 3 Row

The Traveler already has the same wheelbase as the Tahoe - which already has 3 rows of seating as an option. The main difference between the 2 is that the Traveler is bobbed shorter w/o the spare tire. A Travelall would probably be less off-road oriented. Other than the space for the...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

Politics. Road tax for consumer vehicles is generally based on gas sales. For a long time, it was considered a relatively fair method-it indirectly dealt with weight and mileage. EV's completely side stepped gas taxes. There is tax on electricity, but that does not go to road maintenance...

AC Vent in Rear Cargo Area of the Traveler

Non-glass roof will help-an insulated roof might help more. Would love rear vents, but if 2nd row vents are good-perhaps a 12v might be enough to circulate cold air back for the dogs. Even with a rear AC, I might still consider kennel fans. Possibly decent sized aux electrical in the rear...

Very different price points, the incentive will still matter, but it will matter less. It is a significantly smaller percentage of the price of the vehicle - and a larger percentage of the customers would not be eligible anyway.

PLEASE DO NOT DO AN EXCLUSIVE DEAL WITH STARLINK - NO MUSK

I am sure this is not political hate. Yep, absolutely sure. Please try your best to make this a 50 states vehicle. Every political concession to one side will just annoy and possibly loose potential clients from the other. At most, make political concessions avoidable options. Kind of like...

Where’s everyone camping or overlanding for the 4th?

Will be putting on a fireworks show and BBQ. I have a great place for it, but don't advise any of the guest to try to drive to it without 4x4. They can walk the last 200 yards much safely - especially since today's rains. Will have a tractor nearby for those who don't listen. Of the group...

Please do NOT use soy based wiring!

Cats will not touch a full grown rat. My labs kill one or two a week, but that does not do much. Had a pair of hawks by the ranch equipment, but they could not keep up either.

Scout Motors Needs to Rethink “Local” Service. Don't do the Tesla model.

200 miles is not a 1 day commitment. It is a 2 day one. One to drop it off, and another to pick it up. Also, if they don't provide loner vehicles-that commitment is for 2 people-which is a LOT worse. Now in some fairness - a lot of specialists around me make the rounds. They don't work out...

Please do NOT use soy based wiring!

$4k of damage to my Kubota Tractor harness. Managed to patch the harness on my Kubota skid loader-it would have been $5k. Kubota skid steer also suffered damage, but not critical to the harness, but they did eat through the radiator hose. No damage to any other equipment-so Kubota must have...

    Heated running boards

Not sure if it would help, but would retractable might keep some of the ice off them. I live so far south, the only thing my diesel block heater have managed is a permanent recall notice due to a fire hazard-that the dealers will not address because nobody uses them here.

    Girl Scout Cookies

I understand. There is simply too much stuff for the kids to do today. Our kids were doing different after school groups almost every evening out of the week. Virtually every other kid is the same. Add to that, each one of those other things want to be all consuming in and of themselves. My...

    Camper Shell

I could use a 2nd truck, I want an SUV. If the Terra came with a Norweld style bed, it would make it a lot more tempting to me. If they offered a Norweld style topper.... Well it is almost the best of both worlds. That said, 2 reasons I don't already own it now. 1) My wife said NO, HELL...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

I am probably just jaded. I have watched too many start up vehicle companies have interested ideas and never get them really past that. Some try to make test mules, others bolt their bodies on someone else's vehicle (to make them look further down the road than they actually are). Other's...

Interesting Offroad Behavior of a Lightning

Kind of reminds me of what can happen if you jack up both tires on the same axle. You can spin one forward and the other might want to spin in reverse.

    Girl Scout Cookies

Personally, I would advise against it. Both groups have become politicized-especially on the national level. The politicization of both groups have had them both be disbanded locally- with Heritage Girls and Trail Life replacing them for a while. I know EV's have a history of being...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

The Alphamotors Wolf looked great on that video. That said, when I went to the website-well the front end is hideous without the brush guard. They have some proposed variants that would be extreamly tempting if they existed, but they are not even ones that allow reservations. Big thing...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

Just got the bid of turning a front and rear covered porch on my new home to a wrap around porch. Now if fairness, the front and rear were not full porches-so the add on segments were 50-60' each. The bid was 150k - just for the covered porches. Prices are above insane. Going to ask the...
