Pebble - an Electric RV trailer with regen braking and power tow assist

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
I will argue about ALL the difference. Many SUVs aren’t flat towable. Will it benefit them-yeah-but percentage of RV drivers is probably only a couple percent based on 200,000 units a year. I’m guessing less than 1% a year, especially after first year or two enthusiast’s rush. Annual RV sales are upper 300,000 units a year (North America so that includes Canada) and not everyone buying a new RV is also buying a new towable so maybe 1-1/2% max of buyers on a good year but I’m still thinking less than 1%. Depending on the effort required that may not be worth SM time or efforts but they want to be a 50 state vehicle so hope they offer for those who want it, so long as the R&D costs and components don’t add costs for me as a buyer.
What he meant, obviously, is that the capability will outweigh its expense, and will give the brand two things it can use more of… a unique selling point (USP) that no other pure EV’s can boast, and a direct competitor for the only segment where Jeep has all but zero rivals.

The Bronco is really disrupting the die hard Jeep community right now. They have done a great job pointing for the middle of their guts with an arguably better product and are winning. The Bronco Raptor is a better Jeep than has ever been built.

And they are hurting them not just in the dealerships with market share, but in the aftermarket support, the factory support of racing and off road enthusiast groups and a growing rabid fan base of owners who finally have an option.

It’s great to see honestly. I had an FJ Cruiser that was a pretty wildly capable off road vehicle, but it was too big and too nice to do Jeep stuff. Bronco has a bunch of that difference overcome.

I have to imagine that Scout is putting itself directly in competition with these two very established marques for a reason… and it is likely that reason is that there is room for another “non-Jeep” and that they are counting on the same loyalists that drove Scouts to buy them again.

If it can flat tow… I’ll buy it and enjoy it. If it won’t, I can’t use it at all.

We had a bad Bronco so as much as I wanted to believe Bronco was going to be better experience we did not have one so alas we got rid of it in under 2 years. That said, these scouts will be more than capable but based on the size I’d be surprised if a lot of true off-roaders gravitate too them. I think for a daily and especially for overlanding or long travel the Scout will be the obvious choice but I don’t see as much crawling occurring with the size but people with hobbies will do what they do. I believe within 5 years or so Scout will offer or will have announced that they are bringing a wrangler sized lifestyle vehicle to market and that vehicle will crush the existing market as it relates to Bronco, Wrangler and other small to mid sized offroad capable lifestyle vehicles.

One can hope. I’m definitely in the “Anything but Jeep” camp.

I came very close to buying the Bronco Raptor. Was still asking for over sticker at the time and I correctly surmised I was about to take a bath on it.

I bought an RS6 instead, which is humorous sounding. Totally different vehicles. But, I kept the 3500 which I was looking at selling if I had the Bronco.

I’m mostly unsuccessfully trying to reduce the number of vehicles I own, and the Scout could possibly kill two at the same time… but not if it can’t flat tow.

So… it would need the processing power and capability of about an iPhone to handle all that. Seriously. It’s already got accelerometers, usb connectivity etc.

These are very overcome-able challenges.
Overcomeable for sure - but while they are actually working on getting product initial production, it is not going to be a priority unless Uncle Jamie wants his scout towed behind his RV... (and yes, I have no clue if he ever uses an RV - and if he does, he would probably tow it in an enclosed trailer so it could get to events clean).
