Actual delay official and order of deliveries confirmed?

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
There's no denying that dealerships do things that they can charge extra for. However, dealers also will buy vehicles they think will sell that don't cost extra money. That's why they don't hold a lot of vibrantly colored vehicles on the lot even though the manufacturers sell them because people are more likely to buy a black or white vehicle that cost less over a habanero red that cost an extra $2000. So standard dealership practices within the US would be to order a single color black, white or gray vehicle cuz it's going to sell more to the mass market than an orange and white vehicle. At least that's what dealerships think
Oddly, you don’t have to order 8 for your dealership. Order one and see what happens. Then try another. Not like they need to buy a carrier full then get stuck. Years ago we bought a Nissan and wanted a specific color and had to go to 4 different dealers til one finally had it. We got tons of compliments and it was a warmer light brown/taupe metallic brownish-gray so it wasn’t even extreme. Ironically that dealer had several and we learned most were sold already. Some dealers get it and other don’t. But the B/W/G cracks me up.

Yep, but dealers don't tend to consider anything more than the money. I had a friend who worked at a Ford dealer for a little while and the way that they wanted to treat their customers was getting so immoral he had to quit and as a possible buyer, it gets really annoying when you want something specific and all they'll do is look around and see if another dealer has something similar that you want in stock. But even if they will order it for you, you're probably not going to get it at MSRP because when it arrives they'll do what dealers do and then Mark it up and then that's the price you'll pay. At least that has been my experience with the viewers anyway

I think TFL hit a lot of points everyone is thinking about:

Who is the “everyone” in this equation? These guys aren’t speaking for me. Based on past experience (particularly with their eighty-part series slamming the Buzz), TFL is never speaking on my behalf. 🤷‍♀️ These guys have their own fish to fry.

If you don’t want to buy a Terra or a Traveler and want to buy something that costs less and doesn’t look like this, which is to say “good,” hey, go for it. That’s up to you. I think it’s wiser to exercise some patience and spend a little more to get something better.

I’ve noticed they like to try and complain a lot so they will complain about something as small as the headlight controls being digital or the vehicle not turning off because there’s no power button not considering that the majority of people will leave their headlights on automatic and never touch them or that if you want the vehicle to turn off, you take the key out of it and walk away and then it will turn off, especially with these newer electric vehicles, and it’s not everyone at TFL, but a large majority of them seem to really only complain or nitpick

Yeah, they’re very selectively whiny, and then when they embrace something, it’s kind of baffling to me that they embrace something for the same reasons they reject something else. Case in point: they hated the Buzz, but loved the electric Fiat? They loved a little tiny shitty overpriced EV made out of mothwings and beetle shells held together with flour and water paste because they got a good price on the lease? Tell me that wasn’t a loaded call.

Don’t get me wrong: aesthetically, the Fiat is cute (I love the rose gold color that they offered), but it is not a great pick. There’s not a great option for a little (compact) EV right now in MY 2026.

Speaking of cute EVs has anyone else seen the pics on social media of a new Mini convertible that appears coupe like rather than Mini like? I really like it. And I think it’s EV, maybe I’m wrong on that

Not everyone has drank the Scout Cool-Aide. A lot of the country wonders if Scout can pull off the products they have promised at the price they promise. What does $60,000 get you for a Scout? Are the concepts we see going to be $70,000 or more when the order banks open? What are the actual ranges the Harvester and Non Harvester can accomplish? What about final towing numbers? There are a lot of questions out there that still need to be answered.

If it's the Nissan color I'm thinking of, that is a fantastic color. I've also recently fallen in love with Ford's new Marsh Gray color after seeing it on a Ranger Raptor at my local dealership.

I don’t know. It looks real enough but AI is getting better. I’ve seen other angles too so hard to say but I like it. And the color would look good on a new Scout
It's a concept from 2014(!) that Mini dusted off and presented in a new color.

Just like people in this thread? They spent half the video talking about how much they're looking forward to the Scout vehicles (and rightfully so) because no other manufacturer is making an EV like what Scout is proposing. At least, not yet, which was the crux and actual point of the video- if Scout has to delay production at all, they're not going to have the advantage of being first to market with a body-on-frame, full-size BEV/EREV SUV and truck that is built with both form and function in mind.

For that matter, I rather appreciate TFL's harping on manufacturer's that insist on moving to all-digital controls and replacing center consoles with massive screens. I'm not even that old and I can't stand it, but preferences aside, they're right that at some point these massive screens and all-digital controls become a liability. Just about every state has "hands-free" driving laws now, and all manufacturer's have one is move the phone to a 24" television in the middle of your car.

The guys over at TFL like to complain, though we all do in our own ways and on specific things, the guys at TFL love, older cars and trucks. Which is why it’s frustrating to hear them complain about the removal of switches and buttons that aren’t necessary like in the Silverado EV it does not need a light switch. Dial knob is 90% of the people that will be driving. Will never touch the headlight settings. Same goes for a push button start EV does not need a start button you get in with your key foot on the brake. The vehicle turns on when you exit and leave with the key. It turns off, but they tend to complain about that because when they are shooting their videos and they leave the key in the vehicle usually because it’s not their vehicle, but they still like to complain about it and maybe that’s one or two of the guys over there at TFL but when they made their video saying goodbye, cause the buzz it was purely because of depreciation they had intended on keeping it to do a length review but scrapped that idea early because of depreciation and while I fully understand that they are a company so they have to put money first just something about the video didn’t sit right with me personally

I'm not an avid watcher of TFL, but they are one of the few large YT channels that do as in-depth testing and reviews as they do. Ryan at Driving Sports TV is the only other one I can think of. I see them pointing out weird/nonsensical design choices, but I don't count that as complaining. Maybe they like older vehicles because the current state of the car industry is, let's admit it, kinda crap? Overpriced vehicles that are becoming more and more similar than they are different. I'm not a "car guy" but even to me it's a little depressing to see every new passenger vehicle be a different size of a Toyota crossover or Ford truck.

You don't think it needs a light switch, there are other people who think it does. People like myself who live isolated out in rural country that have reason to need control over the headlights in certain situations. I'm sure most people think all-digital controls and more automation is progress, but for that 10% of us it's a hindrance, and it shows how (un)seriously manufacturers are about EV adoption when their supposed "rugged" EV trucks are being made for people that live in suburbia rather than following the same ethic of their ICE lineups.
I'll add that is 100% the reason I am interested in Scout and no other EV as my first EV. Ford came close with the Lightning. Finally, there is a manufacturer that is at least considering that people who own and use trucks and SUVs for their intended purpose might actually want that same feel and capability in an EV.

Well, back to the point of them being a YT channel, they have always been open and honest that they are content creators and the vehicles they buy and keep for long-term reviews depends on their audience reaction. That's how they make money, they don't keep vehicles if people aren't watching or responding positively to the content. The Buzz was one of those vehicles.
