The Garage (What did you work on today?)

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
I wish people around here practiced spirited merging.

The Supra maybe an ICE but it’s the same way. Now the Wrangler the speedometer stops at 100. Anything over 80 is kinda terrifying in that car.
I’ve done 124 in a tuned sport sedan and it got to the point the pucker factor kicked in and I eased back. Had my old scout up to over 90 once racing a Porsche on a highway when I was 16 and dumber then I am today. He slowed down, stuck his arm out and gave me a thumbs up. Was my best driving experience ever. With the new traveler I can see 90 but I don’t think I’d have the nerve to take it to 124 mph even if a limiter allowed me to

I bet your head barely fit through the door when you got home! Lol

Sounds like an epic day.

I had an upgraded turbo, clutch, exhaust, and tune on my 2015 Passat TDI. It would make the Stage 2 clutch (rated for 400ft-lbs) slip on occasion. Also ran oversized H rated tires.

Was doing pulls with some rando in a Veloster one day. I think 130 was the number I saw before we backed down. It was still pulling but I think we both got spooked after a cop materialized in the distance.

My Husqvarna Norden 901 would also top out at 127 before hitting the rev limiter. Which is already a little hairy on knobby tires…

I believe the KTM 1390 SAR I want is limited to 155mph due to its knobbies. I am not sure if I want to find out though…

I’ve honestly been thinking about adding a diesel to the Lexus instead of building the 4.7 2UZ V8 to increase my range at the expense of higher horsepower.

Diesel Toys offers the 2.8L 1GD swaps with a 6 speed manual for around $40k. With dual tanks I could go 1,100 miles on a single fill up. They make more torque than the previous 4.5L twin turbo V8 diesels and I would see around 20-22mpg even with portals and 37”s.

They specialize in OEM swaps for Toyotas and Lexus vehicles and come with an 18 month warranty.

Would be a “last car I ever own” situation if I went that route though.

Lot of work but that would be a cool build conversion to show off. Sounds like 130 is the less than common sense, cut off point for people with common sense
