  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

If a 35 inch spare can't fit under the bed of the Terra, and if the front "grill" of the truck has no engine to circulate air through, then why not have an option for a front spare mount? It can be fixed to the front bumper or be a pivoting tire carrier that swings out of the way for convenient frunk access. Or why can't the Terra also have a pivoting tire carrier option behind the tailgate like the Traveler? It would only be a 2-step process to lower the Terra tailgate which is the same number of steps the Traveler with tire carrier has in order to access its cargo area.

Great question.

I have no idea if legally its cool to do that anymore.

But it sure would solve some tire placement issues for the Terra :).

There nothing stopping anyone (or any aftermarket company) from providing a swing-out on the truck or SUV. That already exists today and if someone wanted or needed a swing out rear tire, they could do that from the 2" receiver, for example. Here's one:

As for the front? That would be an efficiency, sensor, and DRL light bar killer, so not so sure that is a super viable (or desirable) solution.

Odd, one would think they would design around a full size spare.

I did assume throwing the Harvester in at the last moment was an afterthought and a ditch to sway those with range anxiety though.

Keep in mind base tire is an 18” with 33’s. Base is not the 35’s on 20” that the Prototypes are wearing. But gotta go 35’s because they look perfect.

Swing out rear bumper mount please like you can do on some of the jeep aftermarket styles. With the ability to lock it open 90 deg w/reflectors for driving when you have a long load and have to drop the tailgate.

I think you need/should talk to some sportsman/guides about this swing out tire options (and other options). Getting dogs out of the back during upland/duck season with a swing out mount would SUCK. It needs to go under.

Every mounting solution has trade-offs. With under-chassis sometimes tough to access offroad. (Picture a flat on rocks or ruts.) Hitch mounting maintains bed (or interior) space. But I'll trade some bed space or integrate into a camper/tent config. ?
