  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

The Garage (What did you work on today?)

Finally got back on the fun car. Got a bug up my butt a while back that the audio wasn't good enough in my 2012 Mustang Convertible. Honestly, it's a convertible so it will probably never be that good but I decided to try and improve. I've replaced the head unit, the factory speakers and added...

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

The freak outs feel a little contrived but the discussion is the important part. Try to ignore the drama and focus just on the information. For my answer to the thread question: Not really. SM seems to be doing everything they can. My issue is where I live and the sporadic nature of how I...

Traveler vs. Terra - Targeted Technical Questions

As SpaceEVDriver talks about in his earlier post regarding the reduced towing capacity of the Traveler vs Terra, I have to assume the the placement of the Harvester in the frame will affect towing as well. I "know" that increased weight behind the axle affects available tongue weight, but I...

What are you driving until release?

That sounds like a great entry to the EV world rodor. I really really want to go full EV but things being what they are and that I very occasionally have to tow and/or take long trips, I'm glad the Harvester is an option. I almost bought a Chevy Volt just to commute back and forth to work back...

Will harvester models be "maintenance free" like their EV siblings?

Reading that article sounds a bit distressing but I hope it's just a little bit of sensationalism. The market is what it is and companies have to build to what the market wants. Sometimes figuring that out is a bit like reading tea leaves. I hope VW, and Scout by extension, have some good...

Will harvester models be "maintenance free" like their EV siblings?

Totally, but everything is subject to what we finally get. My current understanding is that the Harvester module, unit, pack, whatever it ends up being will be under the bed of the truck, which is what I am interested in and have been looking at. It could have terrible access in which case I...

Will harvester models be "maintenance free" like their EV siblings?

Honestly, the maintenance might actually be a reason for me to get the Harvester. I like to tinker and wrench, it's why I'll still have an ICE car to play with. For my daily, I would prefer something that requires less maintenance, 0 would be great but I live in the real world where everything...

The Garage (What did you work on today?)

Month long update on the friends car. Life/work got in the way for coming back to the forum. To all those that kept saying it was a braking issue, you were partially correct. We ended up doing the struts, end links, pads and rotors. Everything was fine until I yanked the calipers off. I always...

    What was your first car?

Ah the land yacht, my dad had an 84' Ford LTD Crown Vic with somewhere around a billion miles that I had/got to drive occasionally. Suspension was shot, electrics were spotty, the power steering was "intermittent", and again no working AC, but the 302 was strong, it had a plush interior, and a...

    What was your first car?

Pop up headlights FTW! Did AC work on any car in the 80's?

    What was your first car?

First car was a 1985 Pontiac Fiero. It was a red notchback auto with the mighty Iron Duke 2.5L 4 banger. It was slow but it looked fast and handled quite well. There was an incident on a windy backroad that involved a Corvette trying to keep up with me and ending up facing the wrong way. I'll...

The Garage (What did you work on today?)

All very good points, and I checked as many of these as I was able. Wheel bearings had no play and aren't noisy, rod ends are tight and not split or weepy, haven't pulled the brakes yet (just did a visual) but they looked fine. Wiggled the rack as much as I could but it's up there, seemed tight...

The Garage (What did you work on today?)

Hmm, this was my worry. I hate parts cannoning things but there is no easy way to measure either the struts (while mounted) or the rotor (without more tools). It may be worth the $100 to just do a front brake job that I know will be proper. I've never taken my car in for brakes, always done them...

The Garage (What did you work on today?)

Didn't get a chance to work on any of my stuff this weekend, probably won't until it gets colder. A buddy of mine wanted to take a look at the suspension on his mid 2010's Corolla though. We took the front wheels off and did a visual as well as pry bared all the bushings. Everything looks good...
