  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Drive Mode Selector (sport, normal, eco) on the steering wheel

I don't think they need a focus group. They've partnered with Rivian. Rivian knows how to do EVs well already and it wouldn't be hard for Scout to get an overview of EV industry best-practices from other companies like Hyundai/Kia and just copy the good stuff. Drive modes aren't a new idea and...

    Paddle Shifters For Adjusting Regen

I agree with the OP. I've driven many electric and electrified vehicles and in my opinion Hyundai/Kia have perfected it. My Ioniq 5 has paddles that can increase or decrease the aggressiveness of the regen. You can use them to regen on the fly by holding them down but more often you use them to...

Offer it with a gas motor

I mean if we want Scout to go backwards then forget gas and diesel, let's go full steam and coal!! If you want your new Scout to be slower, less reliable, louder, and more expensive to run then sure, go back to some obnoxious gas engine made out of American pig-iron but I think you should really...

Drive Mode Selector (sport, normal, eco) on the steering wheel

Fellow Ioniq 5 owner here and I agree, Hyundai got the drive modes very right! I've been using Snow mode a lot (long-press the 'Drive Mode' button). Snow mode forces AWD to be always on and limits regen to level 1 only to reduce the chance of slipping. I imagine Scouts will have similar...

Option for Propane Gas generator for Electric + Gas option

All hydrocarbon fuels are non-renewable. As for how long before the gasoline degrades, my old plug-in hybrid used to go into a "fuel and oil refresh mode" where it would burn off all the gas in the tank after about six months of it being in there. I'm sure the Chrysler engineers had reasons for...

    Poll: Current EV Owner?

You might want to add "plug-in hybrid" as an option as well since they're different than EVs and Hybrids.

    Battery Life Cycle

I've heard this song many times before, the proof is in the pudding otherwise it's just vapourware. We'll see if either company actually delivers on their promises since no other company has yet probably because of all the engineering challenges that have yet to be overcome that I mentioned...

    Battery Life Cycle

You're right in that most EVs haven't been around long enough to demonstrate a 20 year lifespan or whatever but there are more than a few "million mile" Teslas out there (mostly from taxi companies) so high milage EVs have at least proven to be a thing. @Jamie@ScoutMotors can correct me if I'm...

    Battery Life Cycle

Lithium-ion batteries have been working well in EVs for a decade and a half now so not sure how you can claim they aren't. I do agree that a fossil fuel range extender isn't a great idea because of all the complexity and maintenance etc - at least for me - which is why I ordered the BEV version...

    Battery Life Cycle

Solid state batteries are not the holy grail that the hype is making them out to be and they have yet to be proven in industry and outside of a lab. I don't expect to see solid state batteries in Scout EVs for at least the next decade or more and Scout has basically said that LFP and NCM (ie...

Deep Dive into EREV - Ramcharger vs Harvester?

Alex on Autos just did a great deep dive into the new Ramcharger and how it will work complete with numbers. I know we haven't received any detailed numbers from Scout on the Harvester drivetrain but we all live under the same laws of physics and the state of the technology is what it is so...

Range extender - please adjust spec to 250 miles of EV Range

I won't comment on the battery size thing because it sounds like you'd probably more than fine with the BEV version. I can answer your question on the downsides of minimal use of the harvester engine. I've owned plug-in hybrids in the past and happen to know a lot about gas engines from my...

    Potato Chip Flavors?

BBQ is usually my go to flavour, but I do like a good ketchup chip or all dressed chip. Irresistibles has a great smokey BBQ chip, that's probably my fav.

How Are Electric Vehicles Taxed in Your State?

I'm in Ontario so not a US state (and we never will be!) but we no longer pay any fees to register vehicles, gas or full electric. We used to have a $5,000 federal EV rebate but that program was popular and ran out of funds earlier this year so it's closed for now.
