  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Want a Scout. Don't want the Drama!

My statement isn't "objectively false", it's just nuanced. Your own experience proves my point. Your P85 has a smaller battery (by about 20%) than your 100D. They're also almost a decade apart in age which is about 2% per year improvement in energy density (development of the Model S started...

    Regenerative braking

This is exactly correct. Real car brands, like Hyundai and even Nissan have figured out how to seamlessly blend regen and friction brakes on the brake pedal, something Tesla still hasn't been able to figure out (probably because Elon is distracted by dumb robots and seems to have gotten bored...

    What was your first job?

C7A1 with a C79 optical sight. It's based on the M16 platform but is Canadian designed and built with many improvements over the M16 including a chromed barrel sleeve for increased durability, a fully ambidextrous design, and a removable trigger guard for use with arctic gloves. It also differs...

    What was your first job?

My first job was infantry soldier in the Canadian Army. I joined when I was 17 with the provision that I be 18 by the time I was finished training since 18 is the minimum age for soldiers per the Geneva checklist. I'm sure I have a pic of army me somewhere...

Want a Scout. Don't want the Drama!

Actually the Model S from 2012's battery is not all that different from newer ones. Sure there are newer Model S's with bigger batteries but you could also still get them with similar-sized batteries. The charging times are likewise very similar. Maybe the new ones are a tad faster but in...

Want a Scout. Don't want the Drama!

That's not actually true. EV technology does not improve "by leaps and bounds", that's a myth. It does improve over time, just as ICE technology does, but it's not at such a rate that a two year old EV is obsolete and not worth it - or even a ten year old EV for that matter! In fact, ignoring...

Want a Scout. Don't want the Drama!

Solid state batteries are overhyped and mostly myth at this point. I'd be more interested in an LFP battery option. You want the longest lasting vehicle? Build an EV with a lithium-iron phosphate battery and the thing will last pretty much forever. If they ever get sodium-ion densities high...

Want a Scout. Don't want the Drama!

I get what you're saying but EVs are not drastically different in most ways that matter. It's just a different powertrain. The vast majority of an EV is off-the-shelf car parts that any competent mechanic should be able to handle. Most automakers (except probably Tesla and Rivian) use parts bin...

Want a Scout. Don't want the Drama!

I especially love the depreciation arguments because the people that keep saying "no one buys EVs because they're too expensive" are the exact same people that say "EVs depreciate fast and can't hold their value!" Okay so which is it? Are they too expensive or too cheap? I don't understand. If...

Want a Scout. Don't want the Drama!

I had a similar experience with my old Nissan Leaf. The driver's side door latch froze open (it gets pretty cold here) so I held the door closed and drove to the closest Nissan dealer. They weren't too busy so I asked if a tech could just come and grease the latch since that's probably all that...

Want a Scout. Don't want the Drama!

The Recon will flop because it's a bad EV. Sure it competes with Scout conceptually, they're going after the same market segment, but Scout looks like it's making a better EV than the Recon. The Scout (on paper at least) will have more range, faster charging, a modern battery architecture (800V...

Want a Scout. Don't want the Drama!

The new Charger was an objectively terrible EV sold to a customer base that has an irrational hate of EVs. It was always destined to be a flop. People who understand that EVs are better didn't buy it because it was and overpriced, limited range, slow charging EV that made dumb combustion car...

    EMF

EMF isn't an issue and if EMPs ever become an issue they won't just affect EVs, no modern cars built after the 1970's would work regardless of powertrain and even if you found a nice working classic the gas pumps wouldn't work either. Plus gas goes bad after about a year so in a prolonged outage...

    Jeep Recon

Exactly, these are trophy trucks not trucks used to do any actual work. They're compensation for frail personal masculinity.
  15. Cranky Canuck

    Jeep Recon

I was looking forward to this vehicle but seeing the final specs it's going to be a hard pass for me. Stellantis is objectively one of the worst companies when it comes to EV technology. They're at the back of the pack and losing ground fast and that's ignoring Chinese EV brands. If you add in...

    Cold Weather package availability

Agreed. I'd like to see heated wipers and heated sensors as well. I'm tired of my ADAS failing out because of slush and ice on the cameras, radar, and ultrasonic sensors. It would be super nice if at least the basic ones were heated so I don't lose my cruise control at the start of a road trip!

    Jeep Recon

We always have two sets of tires. We have summers (aka "all seasons") and then good snow tires for the winter (Hakkapeliitas). I expect to do the same with the Scout.

    Jeep Recon

I just watched a TFL video about Scout at the LA Auto show. Production is still scheduled to start in 2027 so we're still a couple of years away. And the price will be "below $60,000" US, so...$59,999? That works out to $85k CAD. I guess we'll see. Another problem with the Recon is not only...

    Jeep Recon

$67k was what one of the videos I watched quoted.

    Jeep Recon

Now that they've just announced pricing and reviewers are getting a chance to walk around it and show off the pre-production vehicles I'm getting concerned that the Scout will be more expensive and thus unaffordable. As of right now the reported specs are 370 km (230 miles) of range with a 100...
