  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Is the EREV going to be a flop?

And what BEV do you own?
  2. Cranky Canuck

Is the EREV going to be a flop?

THAT is more like my experience with an EV. Nice car btw! ;)

Is the EREV going to be a flop?

I have nothing to prove to you and if I were to take a 4000+ km trip I'd use an airplane because it would be to vacation somewhere that isn't the US.

Is the EREV going to be a flop?

That hasn't been my experience at all as a long-time EV owner but to each their own. Driving an EV hasn't added "hours" to any of my trips and I've done things like drive 1,000 km in a day and stuff. I go on road trips about once a month on average and it's usually just one charging stop each...

Is the EREV going to be a flop?

I don't think it will be a commercial flop given how popular it seems to be and how many people feel like they need a safety blanket gas-burner. I suspect though that most EREV buyers will come to the same conclusion that all PHEV buyers eventually come to, and that's that BEV is just better. I...

    Harvester Capless Fuel Fill Door

The battery pack, drive motors and electronics should be fully waterproof as they are with most EVs. Plenty of videos out there of EVs wading through flooded streets that drown gas cars. Rivian has even stated that the wading depth of it's R1 vehicles is limited only by their buoyancy. Not that...

    Harvester Capless Fuel Fill Door

You'll probably be waiting for a long time then. There's no industry standard and wireless charging is very inefficient so using them for fast charging will mean slower time, more expensive charging sessions, issues aligning the vehicle with the charging pad (people have a hard enough time...

Harvester Battery Stage of Charge Question

I used to own a plug-in hybrid and there's already a simple solution for the stale fuel problem. What Chrysler did was simply run the engine for a set period of time/kms after the oil got up to a certain temperature. It was called the "fuel and oil refresh mode" and it was a cycle that would...

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

I should point out that in a blackout gas stations don't work either.

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

I dunno, what you're describing has never been my experience here. Maybe it is in some places but in the neighbourhoods I grew up in and currently live in, and the ones I've visited throughout my life kids are often playing outside with neighbour kids and neighbours are often standing around on...

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

We weren't as divided as the media led people to believe. We regularly switch between the Conservative and Liberal party as you need to change leadership for the same reason diapers need changing. A lot of Liberals were done with Trudeau. Nothing like the threat of annexation and invasion to...

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

Probably goes a long way towards explaining why your country is so divided. I grew up in this city but have lived all over the world. My current experience is similar to that of when I was a kid, neighbours knew and helped each other. We'd literally borrow milk or sugar from our neighbours all...

    Dixxon partnership, & EV whirring

Agreed, and in those cases where you almost hit people for whatever reason I would suggest an ADAS system would be more effective than a dumb sound that just ads to noise pollution in cities that most people ignore anyway.

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

How much do you drive in a typical day? I'm very familiar with EVs in the winter. It almost sounds like you believe EVs lose range just sitting somewhere? How do you know with such certainty that an EV wouldn't work in your use case if you've never owned or experienced an EV? I'd suggest that...

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

Of course! Why not? Is that not a thing where you live? I know all my neighbours. We have an annual block party every June. My neighbour across the street - Will - snowblows my driveway when the plow comes. My kid walks our next door neighbour's dog every day. In the summer a bunch of the...

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

You don't need fast chargers close to where you live because 95% of your charging there will be at home. Where you need fast chargers is 2-3 hours away from where you live. EVs aren't like gas cars. You don't need to go to a special place once or twice a week to recharge. You can get a "full...

Concern about the complexity and cost of repairs/maintenance for EREV

I can pretty much guarantee that if you don't have your own vehicle lift at home, doing most of what you describe will be pretty annoying given that we know the engine will be mounted under the trunk on the rear of the frame. The BEV version will be much less of a headache to own and maintain...

    Dixxon partnership, & EV whirring

The whirring is obnoxious and I truly believe it was designed to make EVs louder than combustion vehicles in a ridiculous attempt to en$#!tify them a bit to try and slow their adoption or something. I particularly hate the Toyota implementation as it's unnecessarily loud for some reason to the...
