  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

    Longer Range battery option

I would suggest that's more of an Ariya thing than a general "EV" thing. Some companies do EVs better than others. My old Leaf would also lose a significant amount of range in the winter but my current Ioniq 5 does not. Hopefully Scout will do EVs more like Hyundai/Kia than Nissan/Toyota. Your...

Wait, just hear him out! Something to consider?

So with the US on track to becoming very hostile towards EVs and clean technology in general, Trucked Up EVs makes a few interesting points in this video that maybe Scout should consider?

Yep same! Passenger side, front quarter would be ideal because it would keep Scouts compatible with legacy Tesla Superchargers and it would theoretically allow the box to be removed on the pickup version to allow for tow truck kits or other variants like a regular body-on-frame pickup does.

    Dynamic Power Management

We had a multi-EV household for many years and having a single charger was never an issue, you just take turns during the week. These EVs will be long range and thus won't need charging every day, there will be plenty of time in a week to charge other vehicles. I charge my current EV about once...

What feature(s) do you hope that Scout does NOT include?

Thanks! I knew I saw a fob at some point! I imagine that's just a prototype and likely to change before final production but it's definitely a good start. Thanks for taking the time to find the pic.

What feature(s) do you hope that Scout does NOT include?

We had a similar thing happen with our old LEAF. It was a 2012 with a GSM connection to the phone app and when the old GSM network was taken offline in 2017 we lost app connectivity. Nissan wanted some ridiculous amount of money to upgrade the modem to 3G but we took a pass on that. What was...

Level 2 chargers are exactly what's needed for on-street parking. They're useful for people who live in multi-unit residential buildings or those who simply can't charge at home. They're perfect for locations where people spend a couple hours. We have lots of level 2 chargers along the streets...

Tariffs are coming and EV Tax Credit is Going Away

It wasn't a joke. It's an honest concern.

The standard is 25 ft, there are extensions available but they can be a hassle and are of questionable safety. I would suggest installing the EVSE as centrally as possible towards the rear of the vehicles. The cables are 25 feet but you'll need to factor in a couple of feet of slack so the...

Tariffs are coming and EV Tax Credit is Going Away

I was going to say the same thing. Tariffs raise the price floor. If the "cheap" overseas goods are tariffed, the US competitors will price their goods to be at least the same as the tariffed overseas goods. They'll likely price things even higher if they can get away with it or if they still...

Assuming you guys have one. 😬

Tariffs are coming and EV Tax Credit is Going Away

I know this won't apply to most people here but for the few Canadians in the forums Canada is bringing back the $5,000 EV rebate. It went away earlier this year because it was more popular than anticipated and ran out of money. Looks like it'll get funded again though so that's good! Hopefully...

Why not get the SUV version, then you can sleep in a climate-controlled space away from the rain?

Those wouldn't work here because snow is a thing that happens (and the snowbanks that come with it) but might be cool for places that don't have weather. Here we just use curbside posts for EV charging. You park along the street and plug in while you're out for dinner or whatever. That's why...

Scout-specific and general EV thoughts from my weekend with a Hummer, as an ICE enthusiast

Totally agree. I have no ankle injury but I still hate 1pd just because I prefer a bit of coasting as I ease off the throttle. It's a personal preference and while I would never deny anyone the option to have 1pd in a vehicle, I only ask that I not be denied the ability to turn it off and drive...

Scout-specific and general EV thoughts from my weekend with a Hummer, as an ICE enthusiast

This is an excellent post and welcome to the EV family!! Do your second point, most EV owners have a Level 2 charger at home. That's what makes owning an EV so convenient and simple. Owning an EV isn't like owning a gas car, the majority of EV drivers don't typically use fast chargers like gas...

Poll- What have you Reserved... Let's get a small idea of the take rates.

So only 2 Scout locations in Canada in 2028 Okay, so based on these slides there will be only two Scout locations in Canada in 2028 and a total of 5 the next year. I'm assuming that means probably Vancouver and either Toronto or Montreal for the first two (please be Montreal!) but that also...

As long as they aren't American (or Russian) light water reactors nuclear is fine. Something like the CANDU reactors are good, they actually fail safe (unlike the US light water reactors that end up being a 3 Mile Island or Fukishima). The other cool thing about CANDU is they can use the spent...

This is why we use Robertson screws here. Philips head sucks and you can always tell when something was made in the US vs Canada because the Canadian thing will have the superior Robertson screws while the American thing will always have dumb Philips head screws. They're the worst after flat...

It's interesting that you mention range anxiety in BC because BC actually has pretty decent fast charger coverage. I'm in Ontario and I hear similar things from people who aren't familiar with EVs. Out of curiosity I took a peek at what the charging infrastructure in BC looks like and it looks...
