  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

    Charging while driving…Wild, irresponsible speculation...

Wait...what? I need help understanding from you guys with EVs. I know some or all auxiliaries run on the low voltage battery, but is it not maintaining its charge from the high voltage or are there certain modes that would drain your 12v battery?

    CYURE GOES TO NATIONALS!!! Yay!!!

I regret that I couldn't make the showing at Blythewood. That's close enough for me. Jamie@ScoutMotors are there plans to bring them back "home" for the locals to get another opportunity to see? I am a bit surprised that our local news in the upstate hasn't even mentioned the plant...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

OK...I get it. Stuff happens. But this incident won't change me back to the Harvester.

    CYURE GOES TO NATIONALS!!! Yay!!!

OOOOOOHHH...SWEET! That is near the color of my 79 when it was new. Looks like the 345 engine...everything in there looking familiar. Mine is pretty clean under the hood but nothing like this. This makes me want to get mine looking like this again.

Where’s everyone camping or overlanding for the 4th?

We took our trip early before the 4th to avoid crowds however, we do love the outdoors and took a trip to Sedona, AZ. One day I hope to be driving my new Scout there and venture a bit more. But this trip we spent each day hiking as many trails that we could get in. To top off the trip, I rented...

Also, if you can imagine, the sheet metal in those days was much thicker than on vehicles today. If you ever get a chance to "knock" on the metal of an old Scout you'll immediately realize the difference (as long as it is not a rust bucket.:ROFLMAO:).

    CYURE GOES TO NATIONALS!!! Yay!!!

Let me take a stab at this... First of all, the Scout SSII came with a soft top and door inserts to allow for easy "top down" conversion. On the hard top Scouts like mine, the top was removable, but not necessarily built with the intent to make this an easy conversion. First the interior side...

    Colton’s 2025 Nationals Trip!

That's AWESOME! Thanks Colton!!! The interior photos bring back memories of my dad's Scout. I funny side story, that window handle knob reminded me that if you weren't careful and let the web of skin between your thumb and finger, the worn out knob acted as a meat grinder....OUCH!

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

I drove by the plant site on I-77 a couple of weeks ago. It was at night but it was exciting just to see how big this project it. I also have confidence in the SM team with their commitment and pride in what they are doing. Also, it is evident there is a large following, including us old Scout...

Headlight & DRL Color Temperature Changed?

I mean, is it really that difficult to offer 2700K-6500K tunable white controlled by software to cover personal preferences? EDIT: Looking back, @dleepnw mentions that... "If we can control the color temp that would be an interesting feature I've never even heard of in another vehicle."

    CYURE GOES TO NATIONALS!!! Yay!!!

A few more photos in color this time although not very good quality. Doubt anyone knew anything about megapixels back then. One photo taken with my grandparents and siblings.

    CYURE GOES TO NATIONALS!!! Yay!!!

Not intending to highjack the thread but wanted to share Dad's old green Scout mentioned previously. It was a true workhorse. These photos from around 1974, I'm in the back with the 70s haircut and the one with the hammer (not sure what that was about).

    CYURE GOES TO NATIONALS!!! Yay!!!

Just off the photo to the right I believe is a Scout 800. It appears to be the same color of my dad's Scout that he bought new. I'll have to dig up some old photos and find the right place to post them on the forum. I think most of the photos were black and white. Does your mate of 35 years...
