Scout delayed??

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Is there a YouTube video somewhere of this test, Jamie? I would love to see what this is. Thanks!
The tow rating is far more related to the Davis Dam test and cooling/power than the engine location. The teams are working to improve the numbers as much as they can.
Is there a Becky Beach sand test or a Hank hill test. In all seriousness, in the U.S. is there an equivalent Moose test like the Nordic countries and if so, what is that called here?

I appreciate the chime in Jamie! As I said, I was just stirring the pot. I am BEV all the way and want a large frunk. I had assumed the limitation was a tongue weight/braking moment thing by having additional weight on the rear.

Honestly how different is this then from producing 6 cars in 2027. Just make sure the first production run of vehicles is good

Exactly. End of 2027 to 2028 is a matter of weeks and honestly it’s going to be like any new vehicle. There will be a few on the road to begin with. Then more and more and eventually it will get to a point where you don’t even have to order one. It will be like Rivian where they have build ready to go and be delivered in a couple weeks. I am just glad they are being upfront with us and it was nice to see they are up to 160,000 reservations.

@cyure said something awhile ago about assuming but she never explained. Maybe you know or could ask her to explain it to you

2028, will likely really be 2029 for "real" availability if people are lucky.

The real bummer about the delay is pricing, it will keep going up.

Why the instant assumption it will be ‘29? If they start retail product the 1st quarter of ‘28 a lot of people will have scouts by end of that year. Let’s all be glass half full.

I mean it’s smart on Scout’s part to shift the messaging to 2028. We just have no way of knowing if it’s a 3 month delay or 12 months so they have a buffer now that they didn’t before. Obviously would like to stay positive but it’s always challenging when there’s little (that pretty gauge) to no news/updates

I just have to realize we aren’t even out of the first quarter of 2026 which means they have 21 months (give or take) to wrap up the factory and start building and doing physical testing. Barring something catastrophic I just can’t get to a scenario where they aren’t producing production retail vehicles by LATE ‘27 or very early ‘28. And truth be told I’d be worried about it going that long

Well, while this is depressing - it also is not really news. Late 2027 production always meant that vehicles were not going to be delivered till 2028 (at least to customers - test units maybe). The depressing point is we really have no clue how many or when they will be delivered in 2028... As likewise, they have also stated that they intend to ramp up to capacity over a 2-3 year period.

Seems I recall the Uncle’s saying something about starting up at 50,000 for the first year and ramping from there.

Before people get too depressed, the Scout FAQ still says production starts in 2027 (FAQ link). The main change is that they now specifically state that they will "prioritize EREV models for first production." I don't know if prioritizing Traveler is also new (FAQ link), but they are "prioritizing Traveler™ SUV production first, with Terra™ pickup production to follow soon after."

So, Traveler EREV orders will be the first deliveries in 2028.

I’m curious how long it will be between start of one model and start of the next model. I can’t imagine them not wanting to get all 4 up and running as expeditiously as possible.

I will likely have been on this forum for 8 years before I could plausibly get a Traveler "Electrall".

This is the spec I'm planning on going with so I'm happy, but I do hope the additional models are close behind for everyone else.
