Would that apply to all of us that had one at some point and time or just those currently driving? Being as it is a new company it might be tough but I think there should be a small discount but only for buying a BEV to help promote the loyalty to what SM is founded on and show others that the BEV is the next step in off-road vehicles. Will Scout Motors offer a loyalty discount on a new purchase for those of us with original Scouts?
That doesn’t feel fair…Would that apply to all of us that had one at some point and time or just those currently driving? I’m in!Lots of problems - we all want special treatment... How about a discount for buying 2 or more... Few of us can afford to pull off that hat trick.
That’s the whole point. I jumped on here very early because my first car was a scout. So that makes me loyal to but I don’t have a current one. Honestly I don’t think there should be any loyalty. There is no fair way of doing that without offending others. One could argue first year members are loyal and because of scout loyalty they found the forum and joined but then those who found it later will be upset. It’s a business that needs to make money so giving discounts for this/that and the other thing ultimately slows down their growth and ability to develop new products. The only incentive ever offered was to join as a first year member but nothing was ever offered in return other than being encouraged to be year one member.I’m not too wild about this idea. How would you prove you had a Scout back in the day. With AI I could make a picture of me with a Vintage Scout and there I should get a loyalty discount.
And let’s face it in the beginning they will have buyers for every Scout produced for quite a while.
Maybe they make merch or something that an be purchased that has an old Scout and a new Scout on it.
I do agree with some sort of loyalty discount if you own a current model Scout and are getting another current model Scout. Mazda did that when we traded in our Miata. We got a $500 discount for being a Mazda owner and trading it in.
Agree. No matter what you do someone is upset. That’s the whole point. I jumped on here very early because my first car was a scout. So that makes me loyal to but I don’t have a current one. Would agree but not necessarily initially because then early reservation holders with 2 reserved can buy one, flip it to make money THEN get a discount buying a second one. Something like a loyalty program should start like year 3Agree. No matter what you do someone is upset.
The only thing I think does make sense, and other brands do it, is a small discount for repeat customers. So repeat SM, not IH.
I would say the only thing that really makes sense would be a discount for all reservation holders, and maybe for returning customers down the line with mid model refresh or gen 2 and so onWould that apply to all of us that had one at some point and time or just those currently driving? I agree but I suspect as early adopters we are getting the discount. 2 years after prices will go up beyond inflation so essentially we will have had a discountI would say the only thing that really makes sense would be a discount for all reservation holders, and maybe for returning customers down the line with mid model refresh or gen 2 and so on
When I went and looked at the Grenadiers I was looking at 2024 models and they said 2025 was going up $5,000. Now I am routinely seeing them at high 80s to low 90s. When I was looking they were in the 70s to low 80s.I agree but I suspect as early adopters we are getting the discount. 2 years after prices will go up beyond inflation so essentially we will have had a discount
I feel the same way, but it won’t be expressly stated as such, though if I wanted to trade my Gen 1 for gen2 then a loyalty program would be welcomeI agree but I suspect as early adopters we are getting the discount. 2 years after prices will go up beyond inflation so essentially we will have had a discount
That’s just an issue with themWhen I went and looked at the Grenadiers I was looking at 2024 models and they said 2025 was going up $5,000. Now I am routinely seeing them at high 80s to low 90s. When I was looking they were in the 70s to low 80s.
Sure would like to join you in that crowd!Well, I already decided that I’m getting mine as a handout, so whatever you guys figure out for yourselves is fine.
Okay hear me out. So when I got my engagement ring back in 1990 the jeweler wants to keep you coming back right. So the deal they have is they will always give you what you paid towards the upgrade on a new diamond or setting. I have done that multiple times to get to the ring I have.I would agree that prices usually trend up - but due to market pressure (increased production, increased options, flatting of demand) and a drop in the price of both lithium and battery prices, that has not completely rang true with EV's. Plus in general, new models tended to gain range and better charging times to boot.
A good trade up program would be nice when new battery chemistries are introduced - but the industry really has not embraced that yet.
Oh I don’t expect them too either. All good ideas w/ merit, appreciate the dialog. But I doubt anyone who owns an original IH Scout would consider trading it in for a discount on a new one.
OEM's frequently offer a customer loyalty program for customers who currently own a GM, Ford, etc.
