Scout Terra Debuts in New Silo Color and Retheme

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
I was wondering earlier this week if Scout Motors would jump on the wagon of gloss paint with no metallic flake that seems to be all the rage in the automotive industry recently, and then they go all-in on metallic flake with Silo... and I love it!
I know I keep saying no black but black with a flake, I would love to see that.

In the world of saltwater fishing, that paint scheme would be called "SandEel green" and it is absolutely an amazing color with that metal flake.

Looks a lot like the topside of my favorite lure. LOL.

So I have a some more photos to share over time of the new Terra. I'll start with a couple behind behind-the-scenes photos from the photoshoot in California.

Here is one of the camera rigs we use for video capture. Our very own Chris Stahl is usually behind the camera controls. This vehicle requires four people to operate - one controlling focus, one operating the camera itself, one operating the boom and a driver. When the camera has to get close to the vehicle or the boom could hit something, there is a fifth person outside the vehicle that functions as a spotter.

Here is an iPhone photo of Silo green in high-noon sunlight. This is nearly identical to how the color looks in real life when the sun hits it:

Are we really going to skip over the fact that an EV company is using a Camera Vehicle that is powered by a 6.2L Supercharged Hellcat Ram TRX?

@Jamie@ScoutMotors - You’ve been holding back on us!

Similar comments for Rivian when the first service trucks they deployed to the field were gas powered (because there were no EV vans available yet, due to demand from Amazon). Fast forward to today and there are Rivian AMZN delivery vans all over the roads around major cities doing last mile deliveries.

In this case, that isn't a Scout vehicle.... It's a Cinemoves truck.

So, first, while I've not been as active lately (work and life are BUSY), I am still actively lurking here every day.

Finally taking the time to respond.

  • Exterior color
    • Not a fan
    • admittedly, the color of the paint itself, is sort of hard to see (lots of the photos have high reflection).
    • color is a personal thing. If other people like it, doesn't bother me at all, but is definitely NOT something I'd ever consider, and is not a color that I/the buddies I have spoken to makes us want a Scout more.
    • At least from the photos it gives off a "something I found while changing the kids diaper" vibe that doesn't sit well with me, and thats basically all I can see.
    • Its not yellow (I'm not going to get a Yellow scout, just had to mention it :P. I actually don't know what color I'd go with, other than knowing now "not this one")
  • Interior color
    • Sometimes the Terracotta color seems a bit strong, other times I'm ok with it.
    • Glad they didn't do the whole interior that way, it would have been overwhelming IMO.
    • Not sure on the headliner. The texture/pattern seem hard to really judge via photo (hard to tell if what I'm seeing is Moiré, or what). Also not 100% sure if the tone is what my brain thinks matches the rest of the color combo in the interior.
  • 18in wheels, yes.
    • Sidewalls for offroading == good.
    • I'd hope that they'd be available on smaller wheel sizes as well.
  • I think the knobs on the dash, look a bit... overdone.
    • Way too chunky imo, but I assume they were designed for use with heavy gloves on.
    • Tactile comment makes me think something has been done with detents, or haptics? Hard to judge without having hands on.
  • Bull bar.
    • Worried about access into the frunk/ability to use the slide out bench, but otherwise, seems ok.
  • Steps
    • Actually think they're pretty good.
    • Low profile, and actually made of metal (not like "running boards").
    • For people that don't think they need "actual" rock sliders, these could be good
    • Agreed with comments about them going all the way to the tire, with the slight "bump out"
    • Could potentially run the bar all the way to the rear tire to use as a step into the bed. But, there is already the step into the bed, so maybe thats redundant?
Sorry I'm not really on the "super amped up bandwagon" for this one. Tried to keep the comments positive/objective, but may have missed the mark.

But, I really was happy to see new content, and I'm curious what they'll be testing out on the Traveller :).

Thanks for your observations and concerns. Options, options, options.......

When it comes to colors and things of this nature I don’t feel anyone needs to apologize if they don’t like something. Color and things of that nature are so personal. I’m sure we will all land on a color combo that suits us and we are really excited about.

This color is not for me either. However, I’m happy others are thrilled. I’m patiently waiting for my “Im thrilled moment”. I’m counting down the days to next week!

@cyure doesn’t really care about us-she is only team butter yellow 🤣

The latest reveals and photos are ALL ABOUT opinion. Even the semi-objective comments about things like tires and steps are simply about options, not about required parts.
Exactly right. I also have to think the bull bar is set to clear. Why would Scout show a concept item not to turn around and say another feature doesn’t work? That said-Bronco covered the front grill letters with their design and got a lot of grief

Based on comparisons with the Traveler photos @cyure took at Nationals and the front-ish photo in the OP of this thread, the bull bar will block the sliding part of the frunk. This isn’t the first time a concept appearance item on a new vehicle wasn’t going to work in practice. I’m willing to bet that there will be a differently-shaped bull bar or no bull bar offered by Scout.

Have we seen any of the physical concepts with the bull bar and an open frunk? I don’t recall any.

Notice the bottom of the light well is many inches above the bottom of the frunk. The slider just barely clears the bumper.

Notice that the top of the bull bar is nearly flush with the bottom of the light wells.

I hadn't done the exact comparison, but, this was exactly my worry, and what my gut was saying.

I don't think I was in the market for the bull bar anyway, so perhaps its a "I'm not the target market" sort of thing. But it is worth noting that it doesn't look like it would work for that use case.

Blue, Blue, Blue. Blue. Or maybe butter yellow. ;)

The drawer in the Frunk clears the bull bar. You can pull it out completely and access the bin in the frunk. We made sure of it during the design of the bull bar.

Again, these are concepts. Some things on the concepts will not make it to production.

Guys, gals if we speculate enough eventually we get an answer. Keep speculating!!

Thanks @CP1@scoutmotors appreciate you!!
