It's that you need them it's when you need them. And when you have over supply you give them to family members for holidays and birthdays, it's the gift from the stores that keeps giving. Why do you need fifty grocery bags?![]()
I’m curious about the flame resistant raincoat…are you driving up blowing volcanoes? I feel that normally flames and rain are mostly mutually exclusive…bottled water
snacks
two collapsable dog bowls
extra leash and collar
dog poop bags
plastic grocery bags
insulated grocery bags
towels
two blankets (one waterproof)
two lightweight jackets
two heavy coats (one flame resistant)
one construction orange flame resistant raincoat
two regular raincoats
high vis mesh vest
extra running clothes and shoes
first aid kit
charger cables
pens/pencils
measuring tape
UV light for uranium glass hunting
jump start battery pack
small air compressor
probably 3-4 pairs of gloves (some thin for running)
yak-trax for shoes
a small box of random tubing and swage-lok parts from my old lab
and probably other stuff I don't remember![]()
Exactly why do we need a hair dryer and needle nose plyers? All y’all’s lists will expand when you have an EV, lol, to include:
100’ commercial grade extension cord
NEMA 14-50 adapter
NEMA 14-30 adapter
NEMA 10-30 adapter if visiting grandma at her ancient house
120V household plug adapter
J1772 adapter
Depending on vehicle capability a Chademo adapter
Compressed air
Very small diameter soft brush
Very small needle nose pliers
Small hair dryer (depending on how kind Scout engineers are to us)
For me it was a choice to control one thing. My office is primarily a "file by stacks of paper" nightmare, but compared to my "hoarder in training" garage it looks great. The car is where I chose to take some control.I think I’m just impressed with how organized people are. Sure - I have some baseline items, a “winter crate”, and some bigger snow-related things I throw in for good measure… but all of that stuff invariably blends together in a mess as I use them throughout the year.
So my shovel gets tangled up in my tie downs, and my wrenches fall into the “winter crate” and my bungee cords snap back in my face when I try to make room for groceries. I have extra underwear and socks that are too big or too small for anyone in my family and three blankets that have invariably collected dirt and gum from a multitude of outings.
I can no longer find my screw driver and my leatherman is the “bad one that somehow still smells like oysters”
So I don’t know how all of you got all Marie Kondo with your cars but mad respect.
You definitely won't need the Chademo adapter. That's a dead standard, there aren't many stations that support it, and the adapters are super expensive. You might want to include a CCS adapter though. All y’all’s lists will expand when you have an EV, lol, to include:

My center console arm rest in my Mini smells like oregano since someone I don’t know who decided leaving an essential oil bottle in it was smart and it melted a hole through the cap. No damage to the car, however I was able to nickname my center console to “Thee Italian ristorante”.I think I’m just impressed with how organized people are. I know why those items are need, it’s to get your self ready while in rush hour. I don’t know what the pliers are for, maybe doing stained glass? I’m surprised a ring light and vanity mirror aren’t on the list lmao. You definitely won't need the Chademo adapter. As for the NEMA adapters I expect the level 1/2 charger that comes with the vehicle will have those as part of that kit. Even still you probably only need the 14-50 as that's the most common one. Not sure what you'd use the pliers, brush and hair dryer for?
I worked at a specialty gas company for a while - lots of gases that would kill you before you knew they were there and some that caught fire on exposure to air. Everything we wore had to be FR and a lot of the cylinders were kept outside. So now I have entire outfits of FR clothes and coats and boots to go with them.I’m curious about the flame resistant raincoat…are you driving up blowing volcanoes? I’d go with the volcano storyI worked at a specialty gas company for a while - lots of gases that would kill you before you knew they were there and some that caught fire on exposure to air. I don't know - a leaking gas cylinder spraying green flames is pretty cool tooI’d go with the volcano story
But thanks for sharing the mystery
Hair dryer can melt ice! Pliers can be all kinds of useful… remove a splinter, remove a nail, fix broken jewelry, remove something that fell in a hard-to-reach area, open a box you had to pick up at UPS/FedEx/the post office/etc and are too excited to go home and open and want to make use of whatever is available, etc. I had a Swiss army knife in my purse, but I took it out for flying and forgot to put it back in. Now I’m not sure where it is. I’m messy.Exactly why do we need a hair dryer and needle nose plyers?![]()
