Do you think we will see a Travelette (Long Bed Heavy Duty)?

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Do you think we will eventually see a long bed or heavy duty version of the Terra?

  • You would need a CDL for that turning radius, NO THANKS!

  • If demand is there I dont see why not..

  • Yes, they should offer a larger heavier duty pickup to compete in the 3/4 ton pickup market.

  • This is dumb, youre dumb, and I just want a 2 door truck.

  • I would need more details before weighing in.

Scout used to make a heavy duty long bed pickup called the Travelette.

Do you think there is a place for a heavy duty truck in their future lineup alongside the Terra?

Maybe some beefier axles like the electric Dana 60 and a high output Harvester Generator would do the trick for those wanting to tow more, further.

It could make a great option for retirees that plan to tow a 5th wheel or large travel trailer full time.

Travelette. Another vehicle I've never laid eyes on. Thanks for some more cool trivia.

I don’t think you are dumb but you set up the voting 🤣. I just do t think as an EV the people wanting a large vehicle would want them. Everybody on here is asking for Ford Maverick size trucks and I think that is the logical truck model direction. I think a larger SUV makes sense for large families but I just don’t see it being a large seller-but I’ve been proven wrong many a time in my life

You’re not dumb, and I’m dumb for putting this in the Terra section, but rather than an HD or a single cab truck I want a two-door Traveler.

I feel like Jeep has created a paradigm where any two door SUV has to have an aggressively short wheel base. Growing up around K5 blazers, I miss that size and layout.

All that said, I’d consider switching my reservation from Traveler for a double cab Terra. I just don’t like how insanely long truck wheelbases have gotten.

That’s almost what the Terra is going to be. While being only 8" shorter, it’s bigger in every other dimension, including wheelbase. Just missing 8” on the bed. These are a lot bigger than their photos suggest.

The Terra will be:
229” long
79.9” wide
77.7” tall.
148.6” wheelbase

The Travelette was:
237.2” long
78.8” wide
72.8” tall.
126” wheelbase.

Eventually they lengthened the wheelbase to 149" and 164”, depending on bed options.

Wow

Yeah, exactly. The "half-ton" F-150 Lightning has a GVWR (8250-8550 lbs) that's higher than all but the largest truck in that document, which had a 9-foot bed and the same wheelbase as the upcoming Terra. I can't imagine the Terra being much different in GVWR.

I can’t wait to see them in person. It’s so hard just from pictures. 20 days to Nationals!

As for a business case, I am pretty sure that International Motors would rather buy class 4 and 5 trucks from Scout rather than GM as they do now. Perhaps the Light Line gets reintroduced and Scout handles everything up to class 3 and International handles class 4 - 8.

But, those vehicles will need conventionally powered diesel and gasoline engines for a long time. Conversely, International could offer heavy duty versions of the Harvester and have something unique in the market.

After taking a closer look at this sheet it appears the Travelette Cab only came in the 149” and 164” wheelbase.

In the lower left “fine print” the Travelette Cab is designated with the * symbol.

But this is still a great way to look at the scale of the Terra.

It’s like someone bobbed a 6.5ft bed Travelette.

Right. Bobbed it, but didn't shorten the overall length.

The documents are from here:
