AC Vent Locations

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

AC vent placement is probably not high on most peoples priorities for a new vehicle but it's almost top of my list. My wife trains dogs for a living and we currently have three large dogs. I have a 4th gen Ford Expedition that we use for long trips and the rooftop vents come in cluthc for keeping the pups cool.

While the Traveler is going to be a two row SUV, I hope there is consideration for adding AC vents to the back cargo area for pets. Teaser pics and vids have shown there is/may be a pet mode available. I'd like to see either roof vents (for those like me that would option the steel roof) or Vents located in the C pillars pointed into the cargo area or perhaps even placing them into the rear quater trim pieces to blow directly into the cargo area.

That’s not a bad idea! I can’t imagine that it wouldn’t have other uses.
My current car has them and it was great for keeping the kids from fighting over the temperature as much. One kid could have one vent blow on them and the other could point the other away from them.

Would love to hear feedback from @Jamie@ScoutMotors on how the air conditioning will be routed in the Traveler. Will there be the potential for A/C vents within the cargo area , such as in the quarter panel or within the headliner, or on the C Pillar that can be directed into the cargo area?

Also if the Traveler won't have vents in the back, is Scout working on a larger 3 row SUV for sale come 2028/29? Would love to see a Scout that compares to the Expeditions and Suburbans on the market now.

If Scouts to make a 3 row in the future it will most likely be called “Travelall”.

They already have a 2 door Scout planned, i could see a 3 row coming out in the future as well.

Just to clarify there was comments IMPLYING both a larger “travelall” because it’s relatively easy to extend the vehicle on the platform. The 2-door is a wishlist item based on forum feedback and the design teams understanding that a two door is desirable for the heavy adventure group of SUV buyers. But nothing has been officially stated.

I'll await any news from Scout on future product offerings, I only hope that they offer a larger SUV shortly after the launch of the Terra and Traveler. The Terra chassis length would be the perfect size to drop a larger SUV body onto.

I'd only want the larger SUV if I can't get vents in the back of the traveler for my dogs! I never use the third row in my current expedition as it is. The back with the third row folded down is a dog hauler and storage place for my hazardous materials response gear for when I don't have it stored at my office or in a work vehicle.

Most third rows, including our Honda Pilot (which is a smaller 3rd row) has vents so I think you’d have to offer them to be viable. Imagine two small kids in third row baking in sunlight without any air ?

I fully expect any 3 row SUV to come with vents for that row! I'm just hoping that with the traveler geared to be an off road adventure vehicle that it will offer vents for the rear cargo area for pets and car camping!

Case for an automakers that missed a great opportunity to market themselves as a great adventure vehicle is Mazda ad KIA.

The new CX-70 is the same vehicle as the CX-90 just minus the third row. the vent locations in the CX-90 are present in the CX-70 but have blank off plates and no ducting to them... My wife and I were looking at that as a possible contender as a new replacement for her Edge. Same story with the Hyundai/KIA brands.

The new Hyundai Santa Fe has vents and a third Row, the KIA Sorento doesn't have a third row and since they share the same interior rear quarter plastics, the vent locations and the control area for a rear AC is present but has blank off plates installed... KIA is the more adventure based of the two and could have really used the presence of rear cargo area vents to market themselves to outdoorsy folks.

We drove the Mazdas as well when looking at Pilot and I did notice that so I get your point and agree. With the rear storage space size it certainly would make sense.

With the Scout vehicles still in the design stage, albeit likely late into the design stage... I'm hoping there's wiggle room to add vents to the rear cargo area. Heck make it an optional feature if need be... I'd add it.

I can see the reason for your specific need but I doubt this will happen. The use cases are too small for them to spend the extra time and cost to add this. And it makes it more expensive for a majority who don’t have a need for it.

It’s possible they won’t, however if they decide to include it, they can add in bank plates for those that don’t wish to have it added. I’d prefer it as an option that can be added for an additional cost. Do the engineering now and then recoup costs with it available as an option.

My ford flex has roof vents for both rows of back seats. The people who have ridden back there really appreciate them. I would like to have them in the scout too

I’m not for one side or the other but will say it was mentioned at reveal that with the glass panel being SO large there is very little room for much beyond wiring on the sides of the roof because of the roll over structure. So hard to say if it will pan out

That's a good point to make, not sure how feasible overhead vents would be on the cabana and glass style roof options... Perhaps it's an option for the steel roofs only? Certainly if the roof is not a good option for vents, then installing them in the B and C pillars would be the next best hope. This is all just a hope of course and perhaps the time needed to implement them just isn't there before the need to lock in design and get suppliers lined up ?‍♂️.
