  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

What's it like to take a road trip in a truck like the Terra (F-150 Lightning)?

My family likes riding in the F150 for the most part. With 3 kids in the back seat ranging in age from 10 to 18, they occasionally get on each other's nerves but that's to be expected. I will definitely make the trip if the Boston event materializes and my schedule allows it. Would be really...

What's it like to take a road trip in a truck like the Terra (F-150 Lightning)?

We took a mini vacation to Gillette Stadium and the South Shore of MA this weekend in the Lightning with the camper. No pictures to share this time, unfortunately. My two older daughters really wanted to go to a concert at Gillette Stadium (K-Pop group BTS) which was on Thursday night. I was...

(Planned) Route 66 Centennial Road Trip (Ended up being Great Lakes/Niagara Falls Trip)

Day 17 - 259 miles All good things must come to an end, and this was our final leg home for this trip. We left the campground in Watkins Glen with 100% SOC thanks to the L2 charger. We only made 1 charging stop at a gas station in Richmondville, NY. We arrived with 17% SOC and charged to 90%...

Thank you for the kind words. Your posts about your road trips and general EV experience gave me the confidence to do this trip, in large part. A few days into the trip, the charging stops just became mundane and they fit in really well with when we needed to stop for bathroom, lunch, etc...

(Planned) Route 66 Centennial Road Trip (Ended up being Great Lakes/Niagara Falls Trip)

Day 16 - 177 miles We were planning on heading home but we still had an extra day to play with, so we decided to check out the Finger Lakes on the way home. We headed to Watkins Glen State Park on the southern end of Seneca Lake with 1 charge stop at the Premium Outlets in Waterloo, NY...

(Planned) Route 66 Centennial Road Trip (Ended up being Great Lakes/Niagara Falls Trip)

For that day, the first stop was 47 minutes on the charger, second stop was 52 minutes on the charger, and the third stop was 41 minutes on the charger but I was charging to 90% each time. When you reach 80% the charger throttles down and charges much slower for that last 10%. So, to put some...

(Planned) Route 66 Centennial Road Trip (Ended up being Great Lakes/Niagara Falls Trip)

Day 15 This was our Niagara Falls day! I had noticed that morning that a few of the 50A sites had opened up, so on our way out that morning my wife went into the campground office and asked if we could upgrade to a 50A site for our last night there. They said yes and the price difference was...

You didn't miss it. Yes, we were getting between 1.0 and 1.1 miles/kWh, which is pretty much what I expected towing the trailer. It was a mix of Interstates and secondary roads. When we were on the Interstates, I was driving at 55 mph most of the time, occasionally going 60 mph. I was a bit...

(Planned) Route 66 Centennial Road Trip (Ended up being Great Lakes/Niagara Falls Trip)

Day 14 We took a day and explored the area around Lake Ontario a bit and drove east along the shore from our campsite to a state park with a beach, but it was kinda rocky and not great for swimming so we didn't stay long and decided to explore a little more. We drove a bit further along the...

Day 13 - 326 miles Long travel day from OH to Four Mile Creek State Campground in Youngstown, NY on Lake Ontario. The overnight level 2 charge got us to 75% by the time we left in the morning. We made 3 charging stops that day. First one was at a Menards in Avon, OH (Electrify America) where...

Day 12 - 265 miles Travel day from Muskegon back to the Harvest Host location in OH that we stayed at on the way out. 2 charge stops, both at Meijer grocery stores, one in Grand Rapids (Electrify America) and the other one in Brighton (Tesla Supercharger). Got to the first charger with 43% and...

(Planned) Route 66 Centennial Road Trip (Ended up being Great Lakes/Niagara Falls Trip)

Day 11 Originally, this was supposed to be another travel day but plans changed and it became a beach/truck repair day. We planned to go to the beach in the morning on Lake Michigan before heading back to OH that afternoon, but when we got to the beach, my kids were having such a great time...

Day 10 - 317 miles Travel back down from the U/P to Muskegon on Lake Michigan. After checking over the tires before leaving for the day I felt a bit better because I didn't see the cracks I thought I had seen in the groove of the tread on one of the tires. Made a mental note to check them...

Day 9 Beach day on Lake Superior. My youngest daughter and I were taking a walk on the beach and found a cicada that had gotten into the water somehow and was in danger of drowning. She's a future entomologist and is fascinated by bugs anyway, so we picked it up and put it on a tree so it could...

Day 8 - 268 miles Travel day from Bay City State Park to Brimley State Park in the Upper Peninsula of MI on Lake Superior. We took the advice of some of the employees at the State Park in Bay City and took the route along the shoreline instead of the highway straight up through the middle of...

Day 7 Beach day on Lake Huron. The beach was nice, but the water was a bit mucky. The State Park beach was right across the road from the campground and there was a free L2 charger in the beach parking lot so I plugged in and charged while we were at the beach. Very convenient. Plugged in at...

They are fairly common. We used a few of them on our trip. Not the cheapest price per kWh, but not the most expensive either. https://www.redecharge.com/

Day 6 - 201 miles Travel day from Helena, OH to Bay City, MI. We made 2 charge stops but could have done it in 1 if I had made better choices of chargers. We were still learning and making some mistakes at this point. I used a Chargepoint in Brighton, MI that ended up charging slower than I...

(Planned) Route 66 Centennial Road Trip (Ended up being Great Lakes/Niagara Falls Trip)

Day 5 - 178 miles Travel day from the campground in East Springfield, PA to the Harvest Host location in Helena, OH. One charge stop at a grocery store near Cleveland. We needed supplies at this point so we did some shopping while the truck charged. By this point, we were getting more...

(Planned) Route 66 Centennial Road Trip (Ended up being Great Lakes/Niagara Falls Trip)

Day 4 This was July 4th, and we spent most of the day on Lake Erie again. That night we saw a great fireworks display over the lake. A much needed relaxing day after the previous hectic travel days. We didn't have a 50A plug on our campsite, but I was talking to the owner for a while, and he...
