  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Off-topic stuff…

I had a 2004 Cadillac CTS-V when it first came out with the 400 hp corvette Z06 engine and 6 speed manual. I got less than 10k miles out of the original set of tires, but admittedly, I was checking out the readings on the lateral G meter it had among other shenanigans, so that may have had...

    EREV initial release only?

Still optimistic for Scout and definitely keeping my reservation for now but this makes me even more glad that I bought the Lightning recently, in case the Scout BEV launch does get delayed. More time for me to pay off the Lightning and save for the Scout. After about a month of driving the...

    FB find of the day

I wanted to but the guy wouldn't tell me what he wanted for it because he couldn't figure out what is worth. I hinted that I could offer a few hundred dollars, but I think he's got more nostalgia value in it, given the family project history with 3 generations tinkering on it, so I think he...

    FB find of the day

Not FB but this is too good not to share. When you're thumbing through the local classified ad paper and you see an ad like this, you just need to know more and you really need to see it to satisfy your curiosity. Am I right? So, of course I called. I had to meet with clients today, and I...

    New route-finding application

Or, do like I did and buy a used (or new) EV now so you have 3 years or so to learn about charging, range, regen braking, etc firsthand. Then you'll already be a pro when it comes time to pick up your Scout.

Question about Pedal Feel and Driving Characteristics

The F150 Lightning has regen on the brake pedal, and a button to turn auto hold on or off. I mostly use 1PD and I have never turned auto hold off in the ~3 weeks or so of owning the truck. Only turn off 1PD occasionally to use the brakes to keep rust from forming on the rotors.

Switching Harvester to All EV Model?

I'm definitely not going to miss waiting in those lines at the pumps. One more reason I'm glad I bought the Lightning.

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

On another note, I had my electrician stop by on Wednesday to take a look at my house and garage to see about installing a L2 charger. He also looked at what would be needed to install a generator inlet plug and manual transfer switch so I can power my house with the Lightning during power...

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

No, I didn't have to create an account or download an app. Just tap my card to pay. I had already downloaded the Plugshare app previously, so I looked at the info in there before heading down to the chargers.

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

In Plugshare, there is a description of the chargers, and if you click the word more at the bottom of the short description, it brings up the payment methods and other info I showed a screenshot of. But you do have to click that more button to expand the description.

Plugshare has info about the chargers and it said that these ones have a card reader. I also knew that the EA ones in the same parking lot have credit card payment option, so I knew I could use those if the MB ones didn't have a credit card option.

I think only Mercedes vehicles can use plug and charge at the MB chargers, but they have a credit card payment option, which is what I used. Super easy. Just tap my card and it started charging. @cyure this should answer your question too.

Switching Harvester to All EV Model?

Back in the early 2000s, I was renting a house right next to the local small airport. My daily driver was a 1970 Cadillac Calais (472 cid engine without hardened valve seats) and I also had the 1974 AMC Javelin that I still own. I went to the aiport one day and asked the guy working there if I...

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

I had my first DCFC experience on Thursday evening, and I wanted to share how it went. I probably didn't need to DCFC, I was just being extra cautious and conservative, and I kinda just wanted to try it out to get some experience with it. This week was a busy one for me with several trips to...

The Garage (What did you work on today?)

The Big E! I heard it's the 5th largest fair in the country. My family goes every year. I never realized there was that much food leftover at the end that would otherwise go to waste. That's great how you drive down and get what you can to donate to good causes.

ICE To EV. 2019 Tundra to 2023 F150 Lightning Lariat.

Well, I thought I would have a road trip in the Lightning to report on after this weekend, but my family all decided at the last minute they wanted to take the Kia Carnival so they would have more room with the 3 rows of seats, so the Lightning stayed home this time. I will report back after my...

ICE To EV. 2019 Tundra to 2023 F150 Lightning Lariat.

Have you looked into the Franklin WH battery yet? it has 15 kWh of storage capacity, 10 kW continuous output power capability, and a 15 year warranty. https://www.franklinwh.com/ It also has the ability to integrate with a generator, including portable generators. If you have an EV with a...

ICE To EV. 2019 Tundra to 2023 F150 Lightning Lariat.

We have 1-2 power outages per year, sometimes more. We get some nasty storms here and in the winter, my concern is freezing pipes if it's a longer outage. We had a big snowstorm a couple years ago with almost 3 feet of snow, and the power was out for almost 2 days. No fun! We had a big...

ICE To EV. 2019 Tundra to 2023 F150 Lightning Lariat.

Exactly. Knowing all that, I have zero interest in going that route and paying all that extra money to have Sunrun install the Ford Home Integration System. I guess I should expect the Emporia bi-directional charger to cost several thousand dollars when it comes out in a year or two. I was...
