  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Switching Harvester to All EV Model?

J Alynn, I've been on a the fence a bit, but for me, the journey from say Spokane WA to Vancouver WA is only about 400 miles, so I could do it with the BEV with a charge along the way (and there are good DCFC along the way). However, you have to cross the mountains, and I'm too worried that...

Make Harvester easily serviceable for the diy (oil changes, air filter, and spark plug replacements)

Also, though, it won't need that much durability. I bet the "hours per year" that a Harvester runs is 10% of what a normal gas car would use, so I want to it to be reliable (troublefree operation whenever needed) but duty cycle should be fairly low deman on these. Also, since they are a...

    3rd Row Option!

I do think they'll do it at some point, possibly lengthening the thing 12" or so and adding that. I would prefer a follow on model that is smaller, ie, Scout 2 sized. I love the new new Traveler, but do wish there was something closer to Scout 2 size available as well. It'll be interesting to...

    12v Battery: Not an afterthought

Yes, it would be great if there were a button or something where if the LV battery is dead, you could close a relay to the HV traction battery to "jump" it and let the car power up and go through a start sequence so that it would be usable and start recharging the LV battery. On our prius, I've...

Exterior lights for camping or off road

I like this a lot. My only concern is that people will leave all these lights on around camps and Scouts will become nuisance vehicles. I want Scouts (the people) to be the best camp neighbors out there in the woods.

Harvester generator gas and not diesel

I think that it would miss the market. While technically superior to gasoline, most of these vehicles will probably only burn 100 gallons a year or less of fuel, so 100 gallons of gasoline vs 80 gallons of diesel hardly seems worth the extra costs and politics. Also, diesel increases the risk...

Scout concepts on Jay Leno’s Garage

Honest question. What do you tow them with now? Is it really a 1/2 ton SUV?
  9. D

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

I do hear that, however, I don't trust Google an inch and would prefer they not be in my car pulling telemetry. I think Scout will differentiate by NOT selling my data all over the place, which is defeated as soon as they install Google apps in the vehicle.

Scout concepts on Jay Leno’s Garage

This was like the 10th thing the company has shared that makes me love the decisions they're making. For those dissapointed at a 5k tow capacity on the Harvester Traveler, two things to consider 1. The original Scout 2 could never comfortable tow that much at highway speeds. Even just around...

    50 state vehicle

Washington State represented here! We can drive it on a beach at Long Beach legally, drive the North Cascades National Park (absolutely stunning). I have some ideas for some mountain shots (Rainier, St. Helen's, Adams). We can find something in the scablands in eastern Washington too, along...

How will the scouts handle the extreme cold?

I wonder how all the ICE OEMs handle this? My 2007 Tahoe had a factory remote start and there was nothing to prevent you from starting it in the garage other than good sense. If i recall though, it's run time was limited to some number of minutes though.

Tarrifs on Canada. Would you still buy?

I thought NUCORs panels weren't good for bodywork because they had long grain crystals from using recycled inputs? Great steel for frames/rebar/etc, but not for a painted car body as I understood it when i used to work with them.

Tarrifs on Canada. Would you still buy?

For sure, though in fairness, plain old inflation in cars has been running hot since the 2012 recovery. the average US new car sold was 30K in 2012. It was 48K last year. So over 50% increase in 12 years. If we see even 4% continued inflation, we'll see that a 60K car today is 65K in 2...

South Carolina Scouts! Your voice is heard: Direct sales bill gets a hearing on Wednesday!

Interesting, I'm worried if they keep the "zero emission" in the restriction vs just "never been sold through dealers here" clause. It seems that might rule out the Harvester as an available direct purchase.

Tarrifs on Canada. Would you still buy?

I did some quick research, and it looks like the wholesale price of steel is around $532/metric ton, FOB Pittsburg. So if there is 4,400 lbs of steel per scout, it's $1,064 in steel cost. So if it goes up 25%, then it would abotu $1,300 per vehicle, or $250 more per vehicle. Note that if...

    The future of electric vehicles

I don't see any "anti" electric vehicle. Just talk of removing some of the mandates and incentives. I want a Scout because I want it, not because ~10% of the price might be offset by a government subsidy. While every dollar helps, I'm excited for what they're building, regardless of any...

    Keep the ol' Scout Too?

Yeah, I get that. These will be the first new car ever for me (I'm 50) (the new scout) and most expensive car for me (the old scout). I always drive 20+ year old cheap stuff, but I guess I'm finally getting a couple of nice ones.

    Keep the ol' Scout Too?

I'm going the other way. The new scout, which I'll love, will do everything (offroad trips, super efficient daily driver, family road trips), my frame off restored Scout 2 will not see trails where it might get scratched after what I've put into body and paint! It will be in the garage, with...
