  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

I have done this as well, for 12ft lengths. Works a treat.

Deep Dive into EREV - Ramcharger vs Harvester?

I was going to mention this. The Ramcharger being NMC means it needs to keep more buffer, for battery health. LFP batteries handle charging to 100% often, better. And TBH, I'm sort of surprised that the Ramchargers 92KWh was gross, but then the useable turned out to be much closer to what Scout...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

The whining when it was driving? That drove me nuts too. It actually never even thought of battery noises, although in hindsight I can see how that would make some sense (sort of like the coil whine I get from my GPU :D). However, my mind jumped straight to gear whine. You get that sort of gear...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

Watching it now :). Also, it does have a few good few tidbits in there. Scott confirmed that the harvester would be capable of "steady state" travel at 70mph using the generator. That alone is a pretty big piece of news.

    Potato Chip Flavors?

Brand? No idea. I used to love sour cream and onion chips, and do still enjoy them. But Salt-Vinegar chips FTW for me. For some reason, I don't enjoy BBQ flavored chips. Or Doritos.

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

I understand. I think I'm likely the only other person around here you'll hear talk about the idea of a multi-speed transmission for the scout. That said, I don't think it's fair to call it "high range only". Or at least the way that you're likely thinking about it. Electric motors can't stall...

Scouting the Road Ahead With Scout Motors President and CEO Scott Keogh

Its an industry term. This might help define it a bit more. https://www.motortrend.com/features/what-is-an-erev-extended-range-ev/

Scouting the Road Ahead With Scout Motors President and CEO Scott Keogh

I'm still a bit surprised on how small the battery pack is for the pure BEV version. From the sound of it its only ~120-130KWh-ish. Which, is roughly double the harvester battery pack (at ~60-70KWh). The more I think about that, and the confirmation that the harvester is using a 4 cylinder...

    Any chance on flat four?

Scott Keogh apparently just told the world its a 4 cylinder. https://scoutmotors.community.forum/threads/scouting-the-road-ahead-with-scout-motors-president-and-ceo-scott-keogh.2129 https://www.motortrend.com/features/scout-motors-ceo-scott-keogh-inevitable-vodcast-podcast-episode-113/ But I...

    Any chance on flat four?

Just chop the Veyron engine into 4 pieces, and boom, you’ll have made one engine into four!

Haven’t listened yet, but will later tonight/tomorrow. But the list above is a great summary. My guess for the harvester battery size was pretty close, but I appear to have way overestimated the BEV versions battery size. Alas! I also am not surprised at all to see different chemistries ( not...

Poll: Physical Control Recommendations and/or Preferences

I actually don’t want a powered frunk or rear tailgate/liftgate. Manual is fine for me, and is one less thing to break. I also don’t need a garage door opener button, as, well, I have the button on the sunshade thing, and am totally fine with that. I’ve never had memory seats (or really even...

    Scout as an EV

Have you considered that some people, are in fact wanting the very thing that you are not wanting? And that it’s ok for people to want different things? Personally my interest in the scout is BECAUSE it is an EREV. My experience with a PHEV has been that I love it, and wanted even more range...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

Three roof options are confirmed. All metal, the glass moon roof, and the cabana opening top. So your last request there is coming true as far as we know at this point. The bit about 4 low, is highly unlikely to happen. This is because EV’s typically only have one speed/one gear. EV motors...

    All gas

The vehicle was originally supposed to be all electric. They added the gas range extender sort of last minute. The range extender “IS” the gas model, so to speak. I believe it is intended to address all the reasons that people might want a gasoline only model. I believe the chance of an all...

What are you driving until release?

I have been thinking the exactly same thing. The smart money for a vehicle right now, seems to be lightly used EV's (especially if you're looking for a "regional use" vehicle). I know the Subaru Solterra is made fun of for its slow charging speed and short range (and rightly so). But, you can...

    Front 2" Hitch

To be honest, I'd be ok with a front 2in hitch. But I'd be a bit surprised if that was a factory option. Bike racks, and a winch that you could swap from front to back, would be the main reasons that I would be interested in one.

    Analog Scout?

FWIW, I get the sentiment. At least some of it. To be honest, any new vehicle like this is just not going to happen, at least not as a product by any mainstream auto manufacturer. The emissions, and performance benefits are just too huge to ignore. Having dealt with carbs on small engines...

    Optional Third Row

100% agree. It's also 4in smaller than the Toyota Highlander, which does have a 3rd row. But that third row has 28in of legroom. The Nissan Pathfinder is ~7 in longer than the Traveler, but also has 28in of legroom in that third row. The Tesla Model Y had 26.5in of legroom in the third row...
