  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Scout Traveler SUV Green Off-Road Concept

Me: Hey Scout, you should really do a sage green color! Make it look something like what's on the 1960 Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato. Also here's a GenAi image of what I'm talking about! @Jamie@ScoutMotors: You all have been asking for more colors...this concept features a retro-inspired green...

Scout and the green I did in the color poll thread.

    Scout Color Poll #1

That green is very similar to what I posted way back on page 32 and is a very good look imo.

    Scout Color Poll #1

Brewster Green would be a good one and a nice competitor color to Toyota's Army Green. Also plays off of the latest trend to have non-metallic colors which I'm all for.

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

It's really down to multitasking during fast charges. Our 255mi range ID.4 equates to 4h of driving before stopping to charge at which point I need to stop anyway so being able to stop/stretch/bathroom/eat all while charging is a no brainer and actually an efficient use of time. The only added...

Scout Community Package, let's make this happen!

Yeah this idea really depends on how Scout packages the vehicles. If they go the Rivian route where there's very little customization then this idea is dead however the Scout website says "MAKE IT YOURS" and talks about them being customizable so I'm hopeful they don't copy/paste that model...

Scout Community Package, let's make this happen!

In addition to your standard Premium Packages or Off-Road Packages, I would like to propose... Scout Community Package Bundle of fan favorite options that were debated and agreed upon within these very forums. Promotes the greater Scout community, Scout can use this as a "we hear you" or...

    Special/First Edition Scouts

Here's one Jamie could get on board with: Scout Community Package Bundle of fan favorite options that were debated and agreed upon within these very forums. Promotes the greater Scout community, Scout can use this as a "we hear you" or "here's a thank you" New customers might be more apt to...

They've been doing this for years. When your renewal comes up you can rinse and repeat this process and you'll get that price again!

Donors getting what they paid for and I say that based purely on the math that's behind this one. It's no accident.

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

I just checked and it's bad news. It moved forward, but only after they made the following modifications... Increased the proposed EV fee from $200 to $250 Removed the $20 annual registration fee on gas powered cars due to opposition within Republican party With that said I've revised my...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

Did some basic math and at 25mpg, a gas car would have to cover over 27K miles a year to rack up $200 in charges.

Entry Model Specs, Premium Model Price?

You inspired me to visit the official website to see how they word it.. ..and there it is. Saying "up to 350" instead of "with 350" leaves room for a lower range option so you're probably right. In the very least it sounds like AWD will be standard which would be on brand.

Entry Model Specs, Premium Model Price?

So to be clear, a base $60K Scout will be dual motor AWD and have ~350mi range?
  15. chucchinchilla

Entry Model Specs, Premium Model Price?

Plenty but you're missing my main point: gas vehicles are already being subsidized by the tax code so if you truly believe in no subsidies then you have to argue for ending both the EV credits and Section 179 vehicle write offs.
  16. chucchinchilla

Entry Model Specs, Premium Model Price?

The tax code has been subsidizing big gas powered SUVs and trucks for years via Section 179 thanks to lager and quicker deductions for vehicles over 6K gvwr. I see nobody complaining about that one however if we were to go 100% Darwin like you said, then we'd also have to eliminate that write...

Entry Model Specs, Premium Model Price?

Thankfully I no longer live in Texas who screws people on leases. Here in California you just pay sales tax on the monthly payment and whatever you pay should you buy it out later.
  18. chucchinchilla

Entry Model Specs, Premium Model Price?

I agree so much my buying decision might be tied to it. For $60K a nerfed Scout with reduced battery and 1 motor will have to compete with a barely used R1S AWD Large Battery and will lose every time. Heck by 2028 you can also throw in a pretty loaded brand new R2 as well.
  19. chucchinchilla

Entry Model Specs, Premium Model Price?

Correct leasing bypasses the income limit which is a big one. It also bypasses the sourcing limit...now some people might say hey that shouldn't matter since Scouts will be made in USA...however tell that to Rivian who lost the credit this year due to sourcing meaning if buyers want the credit...

Entry Model Specs, Premium Model Price?

And this is why we need a leasing option at launch.
