  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

    Suggestion: Autonomous Driving Mode

Since Scout/VW will have access to Rivian's software, wouldn't it make sense to simply use Rivian's self driving technology?

1,000+ reservations take rate stats: Harvester vs. Full-EV and Traveler vs. Terra

Not to mention the extra maintenance per usual with ICE engines (oil changes, filters, etc.) But I guess that's the tradeoff for flexibility and extra range. This also means that the Scout service center techs will be unique compared to ground up EV companies (Tesla, Rivian) in that they'll...

What kind of tech do you expect enabled in the car or interface?

This! Steering wheel nag is the most annoying thing I've ever experienced. It would take so much motion and jiggling to get our old Tesla to register our touch. As far as I know no company has done a capacitive touch based nag, but that would be so much preferable.

1,000+ reservations take rate stats: Harvester vs. Full-EV and Traveler vs. Terra

I don't think we can assume it's an arms length relationship then. And ultimately if it goes to the courts, it won't be Scout's legal team who's deciding, but a judge. I hope it never advances to litigation, but VW dealerships (who aren't doing too well based on sales numbers) may be desperate...

1,000+ reservations take rate stats: Harvester vs. Full-EV and Traveler vs. Terra

I've never read about it being a business deal to buy parts, but that would be a helpful arms length relationship in terms of fighting off a VW dealership sales model. Do you remember where you read about it being a business deal for VW parts?

Scout CEO Keogh has said that Scout will use VW Group parts & components when possible.

1,000+ reservations take rate stats: Harvester vs. Full-EV and Traveler vs. Terra

Brings up interesting question whether the Harvester will experience more issues than the full-EV due to its gas engine and related parts. It's likely, just hope it's not much more issues. That's one of the things I'm glad to be ditching an ICE car for.

1,000+ reservations take rate stats: Harvester vs. Full-EV and Traveler vs. Terra

Same. The repair costs are staggering. I remember reading about a $50k repair/replacement bill for a Taycan owner whose battery was damaged (pierced) due to road debris, which warranty doesn't cover obviously. That's insane

Was there any doubt there'd eventually be scale models? But glad to see it's coming.

1,000+ reservations take rate stats: Harvester vs. Full-EV and Traveler vs. Terra

Hope you're right. If that's the case then the Harvester take rate may increase even higher. But Scout is still a for-profit company and hoping to go public at some point, and passing savings onto customers is against that goal. If Harvester is marketed and perceived as a premium / upgrade...

1,000+ reservations take rate stats: Harvester vs. Full-EV and Traveler vs. Terra

It'll be intresting to see how these stats change when pricing is released. It's easy to say now I want Harvester bc who wouldn't want more potential range over less range, but how much are willing to pay for it remains to be seen. How much more are you guys willing to pay for Harvester?? ??‍♂️...

1,000+ reservations take rate stats: Harvester vs. Full-EV and Traveler vs. Terra

Interesting crowdsourced look at reservation stats from 1,000+ voluntarily submitted reservations. The Harvester is blowing away the full-EV at 81.8% take rate. ? That's shocking to me. And I'd thought there'd be a higher Terra % so far...
