  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Range extender - please adjust spec to 250 miles of EV Range

I didn’t read all 7 pages of replies, so it might have been mentioned, but you do want to use the gas engine in the harvester model to keep it functioning well. Worst thing you can do for an engine is let it sit. There might be an exercise function (there ought to be), but better to need the...

    SCOUT TRAVELER FAQ

This would probably meet the needs of most daily commuters, but 150 is a substantial drop from 350. I was hoping for a little more battery only range. I know it is really early, but a couple of questions about the harvester option. Any idea how big the gas tank will be and how long the...

    Moab Road Trip Inspiration

Not sure about all the things on your list but we agree that we need cupholders, lots of them, and big enough for larger cups. Thank you.

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

Whatever they use, I sure hope it is not one of the VW engines that consumes oil. My sister has a Jetta with a turbo 4 cylinder and it uses quite a bit of oil. I am told this is very common with those engines. My daughter has a hybrid Jetta with non turbo 4 cylinder and it does not consume...

    Missing the mark

I feel your pain OP. I am very much an ICE guy, especially V8s and diesels. My first vehicle was a 1979 Scout II with the 345 V8. I was originally going to pass on the new Scout because of the EV only situation, but am going to give this one a try with the harvester option. These folks have...

Will Scout ever build a competitor of the Wrangler and Bronco?

Being the owner of a 22 Gladiator, a 22 Bronco, and a 1980 Scout II, I’m more than impressed with what I’ve seen so far with the new Scouts. I honestly expected to be underwhelmed by a VW owned Scout company. I can tell they’ve been listening to the customer base and they have some people on...

    1980 Diesel Scout II

You know, the more I think about it, there’s no way I don’t get on the list for one of these. My dad had two Scouts, my first vehicle was a 79 Scout II, I now have my 1980 diesel, and I’ve always loved these things. If I’m going to join the EV world, I think the new Scout would be the best...

    1980 Diesel Scout II

I have one I restored. Love it and I can’t park it or get fuel without having a conversation about it. Runs perfectly. Did all the mods. That said, after 45k miles of driving it, I’m ready for more power. I took it up to Colorado and it really struggled. Looking at an LS conversion or that...
