  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

In all fairness - the electrical power train and motor are less weight than the gas. You need to look at the system as a whole, not just the energy density of the batteries. But yes, we are not there yet.

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

The only real chance that chemistry will be changed before launch is if launch of the BEV is significantly delayed (as in years). That said, just because there is new chemistry out 5 years later, it does not really make your current vehicle useless - it just cuts into the resale value some. At...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

No problem if the one dealership has franchise agreements with multiple brands under VW Group. But it requires multiple franchise agreements. Towns I have lived in, they usually were separate locations (even if the dealerships had common ownership - I never investigated that). Now when I...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

VW group has a lot of brands under it. With a couple exceptions, they don't share franchises (I think I might have heard of a Audi/VW dealer). But have never heard of a Bentley, Porsche, or International Harvester combined with a VW dealer. They have a VERY long history of keeping vehicle...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

Probably common enough - but button overrides on driver settings. That way there is not any issue of who's keys are in the car (or who's keys are in it first). I guess facial recognition of the driver would work, but I will be a Luddite here - an override button is fine.

    May 2026 update???

All depends on what the update has in it. But doubt the June will have the first test runs yet.

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

I use Google maps fairly often. There seems to be vehicles it works better in, and some it works worse. I have not figured out why, but would not be surprised if part of it is if the vehicle is running the app or the phone. But in all fairness - it might just be changes in the app itself...

Harvester - assumptions vs. reality - seeking to know more

I think it should closely mirror average consumption at highway speed without any unique load. The battery is necessary for surges - but should not necessarily have significant discharge (depending on the mode I guess). We can only guess at modes - a force EV mode (that will take the battery...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

My Ford (2017) has a terrible phone interface. It wants to keep its own favorites, rather than using my phones - so my favorites are always wrong (and to find numbers I end up getting the entire directory). It took me quite a few years, but I am converting to using voice dialing with it...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

per google, looks like $1k non-refundable was the standard on converting a reservation to an order on the original Rivian and Cybertruck. I was surprised. Apparently Rivian likes final payment a minimum of 24hrs before delivery (perhaps that varies, depending on delivery method). Tesla...

As we get closer to launch. Feature Requests & Real‑World Feedback for Scout

Following is from old memory, could be partially to entirely incorrect. AC motors can have issues with desyncing when under heavy load. You could always just use a larger motor, but that is not weight efficient. DC motors will generally just try to draw more current (and potentially...

As we get closer to launch. Feature Requests & Real‑World Feedback for Scout

Mastertroll, I agree with most of your suggestions - but will make a few observations... 3. Low‑Voltage Battery Reliability (12V/16V) I agree that the low voltage battery should be reliable. But this is not just an EV problem. I have trouble with the 12v batteries having dismal life with most...

Harvester - assumptions vs. reality - seeking to know more

Originally, the generator was being sized to maintain highway cruising speed while not towing. Now the odds are there would be a little excess - but the amount of excess was never discussed, but since the amount of power to maintain speed is dependent on a lot of factors, it just seems...

Shopping for a “new” BEV while waiting for the Scout Traveler BEV.

I understand part of it is EV related. Range is important - and the cheapest way to get more range is aerodynamics. The Lightning looks a lot like a Ford F150 - till you look at the ground clearance. It has ground clearance closer to the SVT Lightning. It had good performance, but still sold...

Shopping for a “new” BEV while waiting for the Scout Traveler BEV.

I will admit I must be shallow. I can not get over the looks of virtually every EV on the market. The designers and marketing team think they are doing the right thing - but looks screaming EV makes me want to puke. Rivian might be a perfectly capable EV - which I will not consider purchasing...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

Ok, but this a fringe issue. Most modern cruise controls will not engage below a certain speed. I understand, for most people, most of the time - it is a safety issue. But occasionally it would be nice to have a crawl control. Feeding - being able to crawl at 2mph could be a God send (at...

    20-24 mpg

I expect there to be an EV only mode - but I also would not be surprised if it requires turning on each time you get in the vehicle. I kind of suspect a default mode (with the goal of discharging the battery to 10% or so roughly when the tank gets to reserves), with override options of max...
  18. M

    20-24 mpg

I expect that the only way to draw the battery down to -0- percent is if the system is completely overridden. The system is being designed for the battery to handle surges while the generator handles a constant load. They might have a complete over ride option - if the driver KNOWS that they...

Do You Want Your Scout To Have A Hands-Free Driving System?

Posted earlier. The Scout can not afford to be a decade behind in tech. Not expecting level 4 self driving, hell not even full level 3. But it needs to be 2+ or it will be obsolete before even being sold.

Poll: What Tires Do You Want To See On Your Scout?

Have used KO2's for years. They have been a decent compromise. Fairly quiet, decent ride, ok mileage, don't get stuck on wet grass. Have KO3's now on one vehicle. Tire guy said they were working better on some trucks. I think the prior problem was that people (boys) were putting on the...
