    Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

    How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

    Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

    A great way to increase positive exposure would be to offer Complimentary (read: Tax Write-off) vehicles and chargers to forestry and state/national parks, each one could be tailored/kitted for each particular climate and terrain... get them seen as working-class vehicles whenever they visit...

    A unit that fits on a swing-away on the rear bumper, modeled like a spare tire that's fueled by a bumper mounted jerrycan, but there's an inherent rear collision hazard there so would have to be trail use/limited speed only... a protected unit that mounts in combo between the hitch & bumper...

    Pushed within an inch of their limits with constantly changing demands, sure... A duty-specific redesign can eliminate many of the shortcomings of Mazda's rotary. The idea's been kicked around for half a decade or more now.

    My apologies if I came across as brusque. The history I have with the vintage vehicles draws deep emotions from me. The old vintage IHC's are everything today's bland and overpriced appliances aren't, and the chance of seeing a finalized vehicle I'll be able to both modify and maintain myself...

If Scout Motors is relying on aping what made other marques successful and not using their position/resources to develop something truly revolutionary both on the factory floor and in the design room from the ground up, then they should...

    I can think of a few reasons why batteries large enough to extend range shouldn't be mounted to the outside of a vehicle... Personally, I think Mazda's Rotary Range-Extender would be the way to go. "Mazda is synonymous with the rotary engine but has other reasons for employing it in the MX-30...

    It's a shame that the status quo is what's limiting Scout Motor's ability to make a simple vehicle. "It's Not Done That Way" seems to be a pretty negative statement this early in development. That's a strange commitment to "Pushing Boundaries"... accepting what's currently mainstream. Why not...

    Check the incentive guidelines... our original roof wouldn't support solar panels, but any upgrade necessary to install solar panels was included in the incentive/rebate, so we got 25% off our painted steel roof too. Supposed to be an 80 year lifetime on the roof, so it'll outlast me.
