  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Change of Heart?

Trust is not like a steel beam spanning two points. It's more like a bamboo pole. Forces will test it, sometimes it will bend. Push it too far and it will break. I think Merrell's post and Jamie's response are a good example of a healthy exchange. Personally, I think Scout Motors has done a...

Actual delay official and order of deliveries confirmed?

Right now, my plan is to charge at home, keep the battery charged at no more than 80% most of the time. With a 120 mile range, a lot of my trips can be all EV. But, when I decide to drive further, I will definitely use public charging to reduce my consumption of gas... but, it will be good to...

Actual delay official and order of deliveries confirmed?

The EREV vs BEV debate on this forum is sort of like the 75mm vs NTN debate on the telemark forums I follow (Free Your Heel, Ski for Real!). I guess every tribe eventually grows into multiple camps. I imagine that when the Venn diagram of "Scout Enthusiasts" and "Decarbonation Supporters" is...

    Wheelchair complication: 😥

It's surprising that a program like that isn't required under the ADA, IMO.

Harvester Battery Stage of Charge Question

It was several years ago when I read Station 11 (book is more fun to read than the HBO series IMO) and learned that gasoline eventually... "dies" / "goes stale". While I do want the harvester for days when I go skiing in the mountains or down to Oregon or California for wine tasting, I don't...

    Center Screen

In general, I think, if the description of the feature includes "Tesla does this," I'd prefer that Scout probably does something different. We've got so many screens in our lives and the trend has for them to just keep getting bigger and having denser resolutions. I don't need fancy colors...

Ok, Senate Bill 5592 is the "EV" bill and 5377 is the 'pro-dealer' bill. You can watch the hearing they had on it last year: https://tvw.org/video/senate-labor-commerce-2025021100/?eventID=2025021100 Skip ahead to 1:03:30 to see the testimony of the competing bills. Note that at the end, they...

None of the legislators I contacted yesterday have written back, but I think that's a good point. I think originally this bill was basically just some copy-pasta from what they used originally to allow Tesla to sell in Washington State. They tried to keep it super narrow to appease the Franchise...

The Washington State Legislature began their 60 days session earlier this week. The Senate bill and the House bill I mentioned in the post back in October have been reintroduced for the current session. They are now both in committee...

One feature that made you pull the the trigger on a reservation….

If there is one thing that would absolutely change my commitment to Scout, it would be the company leadership making even the tiniest squeak about autonomous driving. There's a lot about autonomous vehicles that I understand to be beneficial, but that is a world that I want to leave to the next...

For the past couple years, my wife and I go to the screening of the Warren Miller movie at McCaw Hall. It was great to see Scout Motors as an official sponsor of the tour. I'm looking forward to the 2026-2027 movie when we might all get a chance to win a Scout (or maybe just some Scout...

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

OK, I went to check. I had them install a NEMA 14-50 and the Wallbox plugged into that, not a direct-wire model. So, "installed" yes, it's mounted on the wall but it's unplugged from the outlet and the "connector cord" is coiled in the holder, even though it's been disconnected from the...

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

When I got my solar panels installed on my home, the installers had a promotion where I could get a free level two charger (Wallbox). We're still not exactly sure how it happened, but my wife somehow disconnected the charging cable from the unit. I've been thinking about replacing it with...

    Software Features

I think Rivian did this a year or two ago... the launched an update around Halloween that allowed you to put their car in Knight Rider mode or into I think Star Trek Mode.... the first did the whole sweeping light thing in the front and I think changed their main display to have all the buttons...

59 Months (and counting) of EV driving...

Does your vehicle display the percentage charge or does it display estimated mileage range? I went on a trip down to Mt. Ranier a year or so ago in a BEV (driven by someone else). We left with what I perceived to be insufficient charge, but the driver was confident that given all the...

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

Right, I should have been more explicit when I mentioned the Big One... I was talking about the Juan de Fuca plate and the problems associated with an 8+ earthquake in the Puget Sound Region. It's difficult to imagine what would happen in the case of such a large scale disaster and I think it's...

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

My interest in the EREV was never about towing. I've been imagining these Harvester motors to be pretty lightweight devices... basically enough power to generate electricity without needing to waste energy or capacity on moving a substantial mass like a car. It was always about driving into the...

    240V Outlet on Traveller

One of the reasons I've been waiting to purchase a full EV vehicle is that one of my critical applications is to facilitate house backup for electrical. I fully expect my BEV or EREV to play a substantial role in extending my ability to run my home without access to grid power. Other...
