  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Spare tire table

OK, so you know how the spare tire swings out in the open position and then the tailgate swings down to create the perfect bench under a canopy? Well, how cool would it be to have a small table that swings up out of the spare tire carrier or slips into it when the carrier is open? Swing out...

Favorite Trail for your New Scout?

So do you have a favorite trail you are looking forward to running with your new Scout? Where is it and do you have pictures?

    Christmas Lights in my Scout

I'm out enjoying Christmas lights in my Scout. I love the spirit of my town. Every intersection is decorated with red, yellow and green blinking lights. My family and I have been parked and enjoying this multi-lane intersection where they have really outdone themselves for quite a while. So...

    Turn Signal

I searched and didn't see this one... I would like when you turn on the turn signals, the lights start closest to the center of the vehicle and then it moves out through the running lights. From the front it would look like pretty normal trace blinking indicator. Also from the side it would...

Tailgate a bit more old school?

Wouldn't it be cool if the tailgate had come more modern nod to the old school tailgate? Dip in a bit somehow instead of flat across. Seems like this would set it apart from the crowd a bit. Too far?

    How much?

You're asking how much?! I don't know.... it's missing the driver's side rear view mirror!

    Home charging setup costs

Based off of how we assume the New Scouts will be configured, what is required and what are the approximate costs of getting setup to be able to charge at home? I have a 200amp panel. Thanks.

Auto Transfer of Power Front to Back

When the back tires have traction but the front tires want to spin, I would like for the system to transfer power to where it makes sense. Almost like Anti-Lock brakes, but more of an Anti-Spin Management System. There are many times when I find myself in a situation (climbing an off-camber...

Cool Story about the Last Scout

This is a very cool story about the Last Scout. How fun for this guy! https://carrollspaper.com/news/owner-of-the-last-original-international-scout-gets-the-experience-of-a-lifetime/article_e217b0a0-a8ed-11ef-a356-67777d306f3f.html

Two Door with Roll Bar and Removable Tops

IF you're considering the idea of a two-door, I like it. It would be lighter, turn sharper, be more nimble and would be easier to tow. However, if the backseat becomes cramped and uncomfortable for adults, it would lose it's charm. I'm assuming it would have a smaller battery, but depending...

    Locking Differentials Question

How do you think the locking differentials will work? Will we turn them off and on along the trail as needed? I know the big boys use them, but my 1980 Scout II only has limited slip front and back. So I have no understanding how we'll need to manage the full locking feature. Seems like they...

    Approximate Charge Time

This question could be a mistake. I know there are a lot of variables. But based on what we know (and our best guesses) about the battery in the new Scouts, what might be a typical amount of time required to charge back up to 80% from 30%? I'm not looking for anything exact and I know that...

    Scout Cutaway

Someone sent me this cutaway of the Scout. Very informative but I don't see where the batteries are.

    Traveler Engine Sizing

I looked (kind of quickly) for this discussion and couldn't find it (it must be here somewhere). Regarding the generation capacity of the Traveler, it would be best for me if it would be capable of generating enough power for the Scout to go 65-70 miles an hour without assistance from the...

    Once Upon a Wench

So I have a wench on the front of my Scout strong enough to lift two Scouts chained together straight into the air. Hopefully I'll never have to do this! But one time I was heading off the mountain in the late afternoon and I came around a bend to find a man "Chicago Jack" out of his...

    Trail Cameras

How cool would it be to have cameras down low in the front to be able to see the rocks you're climbing over?! In fact, I would like the ability to link many cameras (maybe 6?) to the LCD display. Then I'd like magnetic cameras that I can place wherever I want. Low and up front for rocks and...

    Front Corner Cameras?

Wouldn't it be cool to have cameras down low to view tire placement when straddling a ravine or climbing over a rock? Maybe a 360 camera would suffice? What about an easy camera interface into the Scout system and then a set of magnetic cameras that I could place wherever and whenever. Watch...

    Smog standards for generators?

Does anybody know if an EV with an onboard generator requires a Smog check just like an ICE? My motorhome does, but they never check the generator. Just wondering over my cup of coffee this morning.
