  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

    Charging while driving…Wild, irresponsible speculation...

Chargers at drive-in theaters is a great idea! And, they would not need to be DC fast chargers, they could be Level 2 chargers (so a lot cheaper for the drive-ins to install). Since you are going to be there for at least 2 hours, 4 hours for a double feature, a level 2 charger would be able to...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

Is that what it is called in the user manual? If not, I think the manual needs an update!

You should send this suggestion to Sonic. I would send it to them, but it is your idea so you should get the credit. Because it is a great idea!

Scout Field Service Manuals - Technical Manuals Would Be Fantastic For Owners

I remembered reading somewhere about Amazon offering a printing service for small run books. A quick Google search turned up the official name: Kindle Direct Publishing. With this service, authors can provide a book for publication and Amazon handles the printing, binding, sales and delivery. I...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

I don't have any interest in watching the video, but I am curious about something. If you have watched it, please save me some time! :p Does the video say if Slate has started building out it's manufacturing site? I remember reading somewhere that they were planning to convert an old printing...

Scout Motors Needs to Rethink “Local” Service. Don't do the Tesla model.

I don't have any experience with servicing Tesla or Rivian, so I can't speak from experience. But, I think I will prefer the approach Scout Motors is taking with mobile technicians. I have an advantage over a lot of people - the Scout Terra will be my second vehicle. So, if the Terra is not...

Poll: Would you use a Scout configurator tool if pricing and details are not finalized yet?

I want you to know it was an actual struggle to answer honestly here - the option of "Get off my lawn!" was way more tempting than it should have been.

What feature(s) do you hope that Scout does NOT include?

In my EV: Pressing the power button with the break peddle turns the vehicle completely on (including navigation). Pressing the power button without the break peddle turns on auxiliary mode. Limited options and prevents the car from going into gear accidentally. More importantly: Heat and AC...

What feature(s) do you hope that Scout does NOT include?

I prefer to keep it simple - call it a "power button".

What Song Will You Play First in Your New Scout?

I just had a thought. The last Scout rolled of the production line on October 21, 1980. These were Billboard's Top 10 songs for the week ending October 25, 1980: 1 WOMAN IN LOVE –•– Barbra Streisand 2 ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST –•– Queen 3 HE’S SO SHY –•– The Pointer Sisters 4 UPSIDE DOWN –•–...

I you were trying to piss off a bunch of the regulars in this community with that sexist remark, you have succeeded.

Bigger Gas Tank - 15 Gallons is Abysmal

Even when the battery is depleted, you still get the benefit of having the battery in an EREV. That is why I made the point about total run time of the generator. If you were in a power outage situation and started with a depleted battery in the Harvester, you would still have about two days of...

Bigger Gas Tank - 15 Gallons is Abysmal

Needing to run the generator in the Harvester to provide power is a common misconception about EREVs. Here is a post I made about this topic in another thread.

The wrap that I used was opaque, so I can't tell you from my experience if a transparent protective film would change the look of the sticker.

"Hit the gas" in an EV? Wash your mouth out with soap, young lady! :p I know calling it the accelerator is a mouth-full, so most EV drivers just call it the "go pedal".

Yes, you can put PPF over a sticker like that. I have partially wrapped my car with 3M material, and the instructions for installing it include overlapping the material. So you can layer material like that. But, if you remove PPF layered over the sticker it would likely pull the sticker off.

The Garage (What did you work on today?)

My latest project - a new concrete pad for my shed. I had originally set up the shed on flattened ground, but the ground shifted and I couldn't close the shed doors anymore. So I had a friend help me pour a 8' x 12.5' slab and rebuilt the shed on top of it.
