  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

To those that have mentioned no rust on the new Scout....

I hope you are safe! Flooding is no joke, so I always worry when I hear that someone has to deal with flood water.

    Scout Color Poll #1

Or, you could just paint the 78 Scout II your favorite color, and then paint the new Scout the same color after it arrives. That would make your pair double unique awesomeness!

Towing a Off-Road Trailer with the Terra

Thanks for posting this. I did not know that Robert Dunn did automotive videos. I like his woodworking videos so I will have to check out the Aging Wheels channel.

A good discussion about gas motor/generator size vs. highway driving efficiency

I wouldn't put too much faith into what that Top Speed Ramcharger article contains. It was written in March, and the Ramcharger's release date was postponed again in May. No solid reason was given for the delay, but I bet it has something to do with the truck not being able to deliver on the...

    Scout Color Poll #1

If there are razor marks or other damage to the car's finish when removing a wrap, it was not installed correctly. If you have to cut the wrap over a body panel, there are special tapes (called "Vinyl Wrap Knifeless Tape") so you don't have to use a blade on the car's body panels. Also, you know...

What one thing would you like to see changed from concept to production?

A 240V outlet would not enable bi-directional charging. Bi-directional charging only works via the EVSE connection - you can't put power into the truck through a 240V outlet. You can use a 240V outlet in an EV as an emergency power source for your house. You can also use a 120V outlet in an...

Thoughts on Long-Term Charging Plans for Overlanding and Rural Travel?

Chavannigans is right, you'll never finish any of your other projects if you don't have space to work on them. You need to get your garage (aka workshop) finished!

Make jack points so obvious that a tire shop newbie cannot get it wrong.

+1 But now you have me paranoid, so I went out and checked my HI5 to see if the jack points are clearly marked. I wouldn't say it was "so obvious a tire shop newbie cannot get it wrong" but the rail and specific lift location is at least marked with the double notch like what I have seen in...

Thoughts on Long-Term Charging Plans for Overlanding and Rural Travel?

If you want a ready made solution, there is someone already selling something like what you describe. I don't know anything about it other than what I have seen online, so I can't vouch for them, but I thought I would pass it along. https://gosun.co/pages/ev-solar-charger

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

If Scout ever decides to do a Disney themed trim like Hyundai did:

Oh, I know what you meant - but I don't have a picture of an all pink Wrangler! :p Full disclosure - I say that Wrangler and took pictures just this past Sunday. When you mentioned a pink and white color scheme I just had to post the picture I took.

Pink and white on an off-road vehicle? No one would dare create that kind of monstrosity...

    Spare tire discussion

I live in the Northeast, and I have had a pickup truck with the spare under the bed. After a few years I had to throw the spare away because the rim had rusted through and the tire was ruined. I will definitely be getting the optional bed mounted spare tire carrier for my Terra.

Scout Field Service Manuals - Technical Manuals Would Be Fantastic For Owners

If you want to save yourself some time (and printer ink) next time, have them print and bind the PDF for you. I know the local Staples will do it, so I would guess that Office Depot offers a similar service.

    Charging stations at trailheads

You need to check with the RV park before using their electrical hookups to charge an EV. The outlets they use for RVs my not be rated to handle the continuous load that an EV draws when charging. The circuits are likely shared with other spots, so using electrical hookup for EV charging would...
