  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Thoughts on Long-Term Charging Plans for Overlanding and Rural Travel?

Sounds like you need something along the lines of this..

Thoughts on Long-Term Charging Plans for Overlanding and Rural Travel?

Whether true or not, the solution is the same. Get Harvester which then opens you up to extending the range of your car by 2 means...jerry cans and solar. How you add those capabilities are up to you, but with a couple of jerry cans and a handful of those 250w panels discussed on the last page...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

I genuinely wanted to know if there were any pro-dealer arguments that weren't shot down with "if a customer doesn't like what a given brand is offering inclusive of sales/support they can just shop elsewhere" so I popped it into CHatGPT and got the following answer... From a consumer-first...

Thoughts on Long-Term Charging Plans for Overlanding and Rural Travel?

I think first we have to ask the question, how far off grid are we going anyway? If a Scout w/Harvester has 500mi range and you can carry additional cans of gas with you for even more range...how much do you really need beyond that?

A couple years ago I got a 2kWh Anker backup battery system for when the power goes out, maybe some camping, etc. I could basically run my home fridge, wifi, some lights on that thing for basically a day and a half if we were smart about usage. Again, that's 2kWh, now imagine an F150 Lightning...

Realized a big difference between Rivian/Scout that I hadn't considered before...Rivian does not do CarPlay while VW and theoretically Scout does. That changes everything. With CarPlay, you're running a number of apps off your iPhone and your iPhone's data plan then overlaying them on top of...

He talked about it on Jay's Garage. Found an article summarizing those points (link).. "Earlier this month, Keogh confirmed that the BEV and EREV versions would have different battery chemistries, without providing any additional details. In this clip, he reveals the electric versions will use...

This is so good it could very easily sway a purchase decision. I've said previously that if a $40K 4Runner can offer a tow hitch standard then a $60K Scout better have it...well Google Maps integration is now standard on Rivians... I hope Nicole @ Scout is paying attention and I'm sure she is...

I'm sorry but I just have to point this out even more. Yes because Marin County is awesome but just look at the integrations happening here allowing all of these things to happen within a single pane of glass inside a full version of Google Maps.

I have wanted this from Google Maps ever since I started using it XX years ago....of course adding in Google Maps data to help better plan out an EV trip/charging is a massive bonus. This plus the rest of their software stack including well-reviewed phone integration is ally I could want out of...

Thoughts on Long-Term Charging Plans for Overlanding and Rural Travel?

Oooh I like those panels, way more efficient than the ones I was factoring in. I would consider adding a release mechanism so you could easily remove and set them up on the ground near the vehicle. Would allow you to park the car where you want and potentially add an even bigger array on the...

Thoughts on Long-Term Charging Plans for Overlanding and Rural Travel?

I would first check to see what a meaningful output would be to you because it takes a lot of panels to achieve good wattage. Below is a pretty common setup for vanlifers and it only puts out 800W. Lots of panels there and it works for recharging things you're using in the van, but not enough to...

Should there eventually be a "Work Truck Package" ?

One could argue a work truck package would be the closest thing in spirit to the OG Scouts. Also reminds me of the Nissan X-Terra ad campaign/mantra that said "Everything you need, nothing you don't."

Poll: What Tires Do You Want To See On Your Scout?

Same. I'm all about off roading/camping stuff but reality for me is majority of total miles driven are on pavement so I'd want to build towards that plus the option for off roading vs the other way around.

Thoughts on Long-Term Charging Plans for Overlanding and Rural Travel?

Honestly your best option is to order the Harvester range extender and carry some jerry cans with you. Solar would take forever to give meaningful range, even if you lugged an extra Nissan Leaf battery with you, thats only 50mi more and would like be a janky setup.

    Tax credit removal

At which point I just tell them good luck with that and leave. Last sales engagement I terminated like that was in December and it gave me great pleasure seeing several voicemails on my phone from that guy trying to make a deal. No thanks, already bought something else.

    Tax credit removal

It's definitely an impact for everyone but because there's so much unpredictability in the world on literally everything right now, I'm holding off on considering impacts/decisions/etc. until it comes time to order.

    Scout Color Poll #1

You're correct and I should have added that caveat about what that concept car was. I have no expectation for them to use Storm Trooper White as a color, but it's the closest thing that exists to show conceptually what it could look like.

    Scout Color Poll #1

Also a fan for the English whites aka more cream white vs a stark white that's so common these days. Mini's version of this creamier color is called Pepper White. It's classic, it's mellow, and I think on the lines of the Scout, would serve it well. Compare that to the body in white design...

    Scout Color Poll #1

Knowing Rivian Blue is RJ's favorite color supports a theory I've had about it. RJ grew up restoring 356's with a neighbor and he admits that impacted his overall love of cars. With that said check out the well known 356 color called Oslo Blue... Now I'm not saying Rivian Blue a 100% copy of...
