  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Luckily we are decently under 5000.

    Driver assistance features while towing

My recollection of the Jay Leno interview is that the BEV Terra is about 10,000, the BEV Traveler is about 7000, and the unspecified Harvester is about 5000. A lot of angst over the Harvester number. My guess is Scott misspoke slightly, that 5000-ish is the Traveler Harvester and the Terra...

What is More Important? - EV Charge Time or EV Range

The generator output does not affect towing capacity, as long as the system is maintaining a sufficient SOC you are driving off the battery in essence. The job for Scout is to make the generator big enough to maintain the battery over a typical drive at reasonable speeds. Which is smaller than...

What is More Important? - EV Charge Time or EV Range

Driving the BEV for 350 miles then charging or the Harvester for 500 then charging and buying gas is not the smart way to road trip either one, assuming the goal is to minimize total time. Smart BEV road trippers recharge within the fast part of the curve, say about in the 25-75% range. Even...

What is More Important? - EV Charge Time or EV Range

Absolutely charge time intolerance, why we are getting a Traveler Harvester. About 80% of our miles are towing a small travel trailer. We change drivers every 100 to 150 miles and buy gas every 100 to 175 miles, so stopping at those intervals is not a problem. Waiting for significantly longer...

    Hempwood all day

So far this is the only post that turns up on a search for "hempwood interior". We have a Traveler reserved, boy do I hope we can get that with hempwood.

What are you driving until release?

By bored I take it you mean with the color? It is an odd blue, looking pretty muted most of the time. I really like the vibrant blue on a lot of RAV4s. But put the Pilot out against some red rocks and it is fantastic. Here is our campsite at sunrise last fall at Valley of Fire SP near Las Vegas.

Here are Diffused Sky Blue Pearl (top) and Sonic Gray Pearl (bottom) from Honda's build page.

What are you driving until release?

The Diffused Sky Blue Pearl that is only available on the Trailsport. It is the blue that you almost always see on review cars. By urban pearl gray do you mean what Honda calls Sonic Gray Pearl?

2023 Honda Pilot Trailsport. Blue of course.

    Paddle Shifters For Adjusting Regen

Paddle shifters are hugely convenient for towing. We tow a 3400 lb travel trailer with a Honda Pilot and manually downshift on grades to control speed. We can go down 6% without touching the brakes, 8% with not much use of the brakes, just tweaking the paddle shifters.

Scout concepts on Jay Leno’s Garage

@ScoutMotors The discussion following the towing limits mentioned in the Jay Leno video has me thinking more generally about towing with the Traveler Harvester that we have reserved. Especially about regenerative braking and UI to help us manage it. We do over 10,000 towing miles a year with a...

And depending on what you expect for gas and go. The battery needs some charge to provide max power for acceleration and climbing. But you can drive around town or back and forth across Kansas forever just buying gas as needed. The generator wlll maintain the battery.

Scout concepts on Jay Leno’s Garage

I should have said GPE is linear with both mass and distance. Twice the weight over the same height takes twice the energy, same weight over twice the height takes twice the energy.

Scout concepts on Jay Leno’s Garage

Yes, aerodynamic drag goes up with the square of the speed, it is the bigger factor on flat ground. Gravity potential energy is linear with elevation change so weight matters when climbing hills.

Scout should publish info about EREV driving modes

I thought the whining was gear noise from the diffs.

Scout concepts on Jay Leno’s Garage

Yes, what I’ve been expecting and Scott seemed to imply is that the generator will run as needed to keep the battery with a reasonable amount of charge.

Scout concepts on Jay Leno’s Garage

I’m sure the engineers have good reason but it is a bit disappointing to learn the Traveler Harvester tow limit is 5000 instead of 6000. Hopefully it will still be built as a serious work vehicle, capable of regularly towing close to 5000 for long distances. And that the tow mode software will...

    Driver assistance features while towing

We plan to buy a Traveler Harvester, 80% of the miles we put on it will be towing a travel trailer. I hope at that least adaptive cruise control and lane centering will be supported in tow mode. They relieve a lot of stress. The separation distances with adaptive cruise control should increase...
