  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Ideas for Scout Engineers

There is a wide range of enthusiasts. Some do not want a minimalist design and I think SM has already demonstrated that's not where the traveler or terra are headed. I think to compete, they can't, for the majority of offerings. Having said that, the niche market that do want inexpensive...

How Are Electric Vehicles Taxed in Your State?

That is expensive. I paid $434 for a two year registration on the PHEV so I guess I shouldn’t complain. Gas is much cheaper, less than $100 per year in Ohio. I forget how little. I ‘bought’ the PHEV in PA for lower sales tax and changed jobs a year later to Ohio.

How Are Electric Vehicles Taxed in Your State?

I moved a PHEV from PA to Ohio and could not believe the cost to register it. Of course, I got a $6,750 federal and $500 state tax credit (in PA) at the time I purchased it. It’s ridiculous to charge so much more for an EV.

Agree. This would be helpful. We’ve only had 3 outages in 15 years but 2, 3 and 5 days long.

    Range and Competitiveness

However, LiFePO4 (Lithium Iron Phosphate) batteries like to be charged to 100% often and have a charge cycle lifetime at least 4 times longer than Lithium Ion Batteries. However, current energy density of LiFePO4 is less than Lithium Ion, but LiFePO4 weighs less. Then there is Solid State...

    Service Drives Sales!

They have considered and currently drive PHEV legacy but not satisfied with the dealership experience or lack of OTA, DTC sale, connectivity, customization and central compute offered by Rivian, Tesla and soon Scout.

What 16 Metro's Will Scout Launch?

I agree, yet at least we have several Tesla Superchargers, two 4 miles from my home. An IONNA Chargery in Willoughby, Tesla sales and service and a Rivian Delivery / Service Center. If Scout wants to compete, I’d think they would have at least one Service center nearby.

What 16 Metro's Will Scout Launch?

Tesla has sales/service Center 14 miles from where I live in the Greater Cleveland area. Rivian has a Service Center 6 miles directly north of me in a suburb of Cleveland. Neither are very inviting and very industrial/urban more than suburban. But at least they are nearby. Friends and...

    Service Drives Sales!

Several friends/ Family (F/F) members are looking at EVs and EREVs for their next purchase. I’ve shown them Rivians, Teslas and now Scouts. their number one concern is a service center nearby (no matter how few or long wait times for appointments). In the Greater Cleveland Area, I live 6...

Dash Rail with USB C ports

In the attached Video the small detail I learned and wanted was power near a mount for a radar detector, go pro or Dashcam. it looks as though there are at least two outboard usb C ports in the Dash accessory rail groove just under the rail at the 10:14 mark in the video. its Mach e vlog at...

[Terra] Double cab with a 6.5' bed

Does GM have a patent on the Midgate? Body on frame prevents it too, I suppose.

[Terra] Double cab with a 6.5' bed

The Chevy Silverado EV and GMC Sierra EV with Midgate have 10 foot 10 inch beds. If I could get the price of the Terra, the quality of materials and an interior other than black vinyl, as well as a sun shade and dashcams I would have gone through with my Silverado reservation. I can’t...

What 16 Metro's Will Scout Launch?

But I think the Rivian ones are for Charging the Rivian you already own. The point is to ‘rent’ a Scout (for the price of a cup of coffee) for three hours to get to experience it. Rivian has a service center 6 miles from my house but it’s in an industrial park and you can’t even sit in a...

    Multi-pedestrian detection

I would imagine Scout, if LIDAR or RADAR, or SONAR are included will shut these systems off when in ‘Off-Road’ mode, But keep cameras on for fun, recording fun, and visibility for obstacles? Otherwise they mostly work well. I do have my parking SONAR on my 2018 A5 cab go off unpredictably when...

    Multi-pedestrian detection

Stolen may not matter since the two vehicles used (one in New Orleans and one in Las Vegas) appear to have been rented on Turo. Also, I thought the current version of FSD identifies pedestrians, though unreliably. At least that’s what I’ve seen on YouTube. What does Waimo or Cruise use to ID...
