  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

I'm guessing it will end up being similar to what's in some Land Rover models. Those use a Peltier cooling plate, and have a moderate amount of insulation. I've found they can keep things pre-chilled cold for a good while, or something frozen from thawing out for a bit (i.e. keeping small...

Interesting article about the engineering underneath the new Scouts

Very fair and valid points. I shall endeavor to be patient for production specs, rather than seizing on details gleaned from these prototypes.

How long until we start learning juicy technology details?

MOSFET or IGBT? SiC or GaN? Permanent magnet or induction? Battery chemistry (or chemistries, if different pack options will exist)? Low voltage architecture still at 12V, or 48V? Should be fun speculating, in the meantime.

Interesting article about the engineering underneath the new Scouts

Thanks for sharing that. This, if accurate, alters my bias towards pure EV rather than Harvester...much lower battery capacity than I was imagining for the Harvester configuration.

    Operating Temps

Yes, I'm aware of that. The Harvester (and the Ramcharger) offer the potential for something extra in that regard specifically when the pack temps need to be raised, though, with the ICE waste heat from the generator. Just curious if that potential advantage is feasible to be leveraged by Scout.

    Operating Temps

Depends a lot on battery chemistry. I think modern NMC cells are rated down to -20C/-4F with no loss in operating capacity, whereas LFP cells at those same temps would be operating at only around 60% capacity. At -40C/-40F there would definitely be some capacity impact even for NMC. Not certain...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

Some implementation of matrix headlights would be very nice. One of the things I most miss from the CTS-V coupe that I drove for many years was the headlights pivoting based on steering angle. That ability to see better into a curve saved me from more than one deer stike...afforded just enough...

    What did you reserve?

Terra Harvester for me. Kudos to the designers for the inclusion of buttons and knobs!

Are factory deliveries for reservation holders being considered?

I'm curious whether factory deliveries, particularly for early reservation holders, are being considered by Scout. That would be similar to what some folks have been able to do with Rivian, picking up their R1 in Normal and then driving it home. In my case the round-trip of 14 miles to collect...
