  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Hopefully Scout will learn from the mistakes of Cariad

Yes indeed. That's a good start, but vigilance must be front and center nonetheless. The special relationship with VWAG should enable some additional insight into this misstep by Cariad that Scout can leverage to learn what allowed that to occur.

Hopefully Scout will learn from the mistakes of Cariad

This is a painfully bad lapse in security. Hopefully Scout will build sufficient checks in their processes to guard against such a thing happening. A security first mindset is paramount given the wealth of sensitive data in play...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

Don't think I had heard this sort of feature mentioned anywhere until this interview: "...here's your underbody camera..." 🤞

    The Terra does college football

Sadly I still have not laid eyes on it myself, in the physical. Those pics were shared with me by my brother and nephew. They focused on the Terra, since I had been excitedly telling them about it since I reserved one. They both thought it looked awesome, and are looking forward to checking mine...

    The Terra does college football

Hopefully there will be many additional tour stops across the county! Nice to visit The University of South Carolina, just a short drive south of the production site. Behind the rope, and then on the jumbotron.

    October 2024 Production Center Update

Very cool update! Hopefully no additional hurricanes will visit the site any time soon, though it doesn't look like there were any major setbacks from Helene.

    Lessons Learned on Range Anxiety

Generally speaking, yes. Rates at Superchargers are higher for non-Teslas. One can create a Supercharger subscription account, which gives lower rates, bit you'd need to do some math to determine whether the cost of the subscription saves you anything in the end. Basically, the ROI tends to only...

A mostly design-focused commentary video discussing the Terra and Traveller.

    Scout Color Poll #1

It would indeed be amusing to name some paint options based on the BBQ sauce types common in South Carolina. https://discoversouthcarolina.com/articles/south-carolinas-four-barbecue-sauces

    Confirmed….Scout using Rivian’s software…

In the Techcrunch interview, Wassym Bensaid (head of SW at Rivian) indicated VWAG/Scout and any other future partners would get not only the ECU software but also the "base" UI software from Rivian. Each automaker could then customize the UI as they see fit. So hopefully Scout does the...

    SCOUT TERRA FAQ

It's prominently featured on the main https://www.scoutmotors.com/terra page. Scroll down until you see the buttons for Exterior/Interior/360 View/Dimensions. Exterior is selected initially. Click the second from the left red dot, positioned on the rear window. That will show a short animation...

    Confirmed….Scout using Rivian’s software…

In a Carmudgeon episode a few months ago, Jason Camissa made the claim that while talking to some of the Rivian software developers at a R1 Gen2 press event they admitted it would only take a handful of hours to implement Android Auto and Apple CarPlay in the Rivian software stack. They just...

    SCOUT TERRA FAQ

Nice to have this thread. Thanks, Jamie! Since this is the Terra FAQ thread, though, it might be good to replace the "Where can I find more information about the Scout Traveller?" and associated link to reference the Terra.

A fleet of Scouts used to deliver a special brick

A fun Motortrend article about delivering a brick (or two) from Fort Wayne to Blythewood...in a vintage Scout, of course. Nice photos. https://www.motortrend.com/features/700-mile-road-trip-in-the-classic-international-harvester-scout-feature/

Are factory deliveries for reservation holders being considered?

South Carolina has similar dealer protection laws. Maybe Scout, being based in SC for manufacturing, can be what finally convinces the General Assembly to cut it out with such nonsense.

Anyone See The Commercial During Sunday Night Football?

That was very well done as a debut commercial. Given the manufacturing is in Blythewood, the bumper sticker featuring my alma mater was a nice subtle touch.
