  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Not to be too pedantic, but the Harvester (and other EREVs) are in fact also referred to as hybrids. They're just "series hybrids" rather than "parallel hybrids." This article is helpful with terminology and diagrams to see and understand the differences involved...

I hadn't seen this. Thanks for sharing it! If the universe does not interfere with my stated intentions, I will try to head over Saturday, and report back.

South Carolina Scouts! Your voice is heard: Direct sales bill gets a hearing on Wednesday!

Exactly the points I raised when writing my reps exhorting them to support passage of the legislation. Fingers crossed that McMaster's pressure will yield dividends.

Extended Range Electric Vehicle. I.e. for Scout, the Harvester variant, which has a gas engine onboard that acts purely as a generator to charge the battery pack.

Agree on the engine likely being from the EA211 family, particularly since there are (in some markets) and have been in the recent past in the US market naturally aspirated variants, producing 90-ish HP, which would work well for the battery pack size mentioned.

My interpretation of what Scott was indicating by his comments on this point was that the architecture and platform allowed things like upgrading the battery, etc. on a model-year-update basis, not that a battery could be upgraded (or anything else related could be upgraded) by a customer...

There was also a question posed regarding what Scott thought the mix would be of folks with the Harvester variant that actually charge the battery by plugging it in versus those who only gas up, and Scott did not shoot down the latter as impossible. I infer from that the possibility of "gas and...

Pretty certain I heard that for the EREV application he said "don't need a turbo."

And at the end when Jonny mentions accessories, being able to put a winch on these things, Scott answers back with "and a plow." The accessories store is shaping up to potentially be fun!

Also much relief in hearing, on the software front: absolutely nothing from Cariad. Software will be Scout working with the VWAG/Rivian joint venture (zonal architecture), and then the UX software is all Scout.

Thanks for sharing this! I'm still going through it, but also a near-confirmation that the Harvester engine lives where a full size spare might normally live. Not a surprise, but nice to approach confirmed.

That seems highly unlikely, since the same the auto company headed by dude you seem to be referencing is also blocked in the same way as Scout from direct sales in SC, by the same law.

South Carolina Scouts! Your voice is heard: Direct sales bill gets a hearing on Wednesday!

Craig Gagnon (R-Abbeville) is one of the co-sponsors on the bill, yet he had previously indicated in a response to an interviewer's question that he had yet to make a decision on whether to support it. Was there any indication during the hearing that all 4 of the bill's co-sponsors are now fully...

South Carolina Scouts! Your voice is heard: Direct sales bill gets a hearing on Wednesday!

Numerous local media outlets are posting some variant of this sort of a statement, following the hearing (source from the local NBC affiliate, WIS-TV): One subcommittee member told WIS the bill is “dead,” at least in its current form in the House. Hopefully even if their pessimism is...
