  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Also, are those tires silent? I want to be able to hear the roar of the W-12 engine’s three exhaust manifolds as they melt from the heat.

    Harvester towing

I like the new Scouit logo.

Sure, fine, but does it also have manual windows, manually locking hubs, and rusting floorboards?

Do You Want Your Scout To Have A Hands-Free Driving System?

My Mustang and Lightning have Ford’s Level 2+ and they’re pretty nice for long-distance driving fatigue. I’m not sure I would be willing to pay for more than the base level of adaptive cruise control unless it includes the superior technology of lidar and radar.

    Mothball Mode

The Ford Lightning and Mustang Mach-E will put themselves into hibernation mode if left alone for two weeks (including no walk-by key detections, etc). This is the best solution and I’m willing to bet it’s an automatic solution for most BEVs. Ford recommends bringing the high-voltage battery...

    Charging while driving…Wild, irresponsible speculation...

We don’t know enough to say. It could work either way. Your assumption may be the way they choose to do it. Like I said, I’m speculating wildly.

If you run out of gas, what do you do? Generally you call AAA or some other support service. They either bring some gas to you or they send a tow truck and bring you to the closest gas station. If you run out of electricity in a Ford EV, you call Ford. They tow you to your house or to the...

    Driving Distance Poll

I drive my Lightning 1200 miles round trip from NAZ to SoCal about once a month. It’s a 460 mile freeway, one-day drive each way. On the freeway, I stop twice for bio breaks and to charge. I only really need to charge once for most of these drives, but I’m stopping anyway, so I charge at each...

    Charging while driving…Wild, irresponsible speculation...

Instead of working I’m thinking about wildly irresponsible ideas for EVs. With the Harvester, the vehicle will be capable of charging while driving. It’s highly unlikely in my opinion that the Harvester will use a separate converter to charge the battery while driving. It would make little...

Do You Want Your Scout To Have A Hands-Free Driving System?

That's what I expected. Unfortunate, but the prices are already going to be high. Safety is greatly improved with active sensing like lidar and radar.

Do You Want Your Scout To Have A Hands-Free Driving System?

Are you able to say whether the Scouts will include more than sonar and cameras? Specifically, will they have radar and lidar?

Scout Traveler SUV Green Off-Road Concept

If I want to get an unreasonably high efficiency for my road trips, I’ll charge to 95% instead of 100% and let the elevation give me a regenerative boost on my way down off the mountain. It’s not as much as I’d like it to be (I might get 2.7-2.9 miles/kWh instead of 2.5 miles/kWh), but it’s...

Scout Traveler SUV Green Off-Road Concept

I have never. I answered in the “ask us anything” thread since I think this is a common concern. IMO, it’s even worthy of its own thread to ask for ideas of how to avoid running out.

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

Question posted here: https://community.scoutmotors.com/threads/scout-traveler-suv-green-off-road-concept.2472/post-35069 I’ve never run out. I had one truly “pucker” trip where I wondered if we would run out because we hit some really high winds while on our first road trip. Slowed down a bit...

Scout Traveler SUV Green Off-Road Concept

I think this might be something Scout could do differently from a lot of other EV companies: Once they have the EPA estimates, they can’t change those (except to lower them in specific ways), but they can do longer-term education on their specs pages with tables of expected range based on...

Scout Traveler SUV Green Off-Road Concept

This will be a source of frustration to many. It will always just be an estimate and many people will be unhappy with it because it's an overestimate some days and an underestimate other days. Some people will be mad because they set their watch to it and they got 17 seconds or 2 hours less time...

    Cluster customization

Maybe it’s a lock for “gear guard” mode like Rivian has? Not sure..

    Harvester towing

Exactly. And I think they have it right because personal responsibility is fine but not when it’s taken after someone else is hurt. Also, as you note, all of Scout’s advertised offroad capabilities (skid plates, sliders, bumpers, winch, etc., etc, etc) will reduce the available capacity for...

    Harvester towing

It’s not exactly unreasonable. Getting the maximum tow capability out of the vehicle is fine if you also keep track of and limit the weight of all the accessories and etc. If you’re willing to take all that crap off when you’re towing, then you’re not doing anything wrong. If you leave 1500...

The One-Ton Problem with Scout’s Harvester Range Extender

Yeah, we just don’t know. It would be unfortunate engineering to allow the battery to be depleted before throwing some warnings to refuel and recharge. Because all signs indicate the Harvester won’t be driving the wheels directly, it will likely lose less performance at elevation than a...
